Miss Apple Blossom Queen pageant still taking apps
NAPPANEE - The Nappanee Miss Apple Blossom Scholarship Pageant will be one of the headlining features of the 43rd annual Nappanee Apple Festival, with the presentation slated to take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 13 in the Kountry Cabinets Entertainment Tent at the Depot Plaza. Registration deadline for participation is August 12. Young women between the ages of 16 and 21, and residents of Elkhart County and all of the Wa-Nee School District are eligible for competition. A SIOOO scholarship is awarded to the Queen, a $750 scholarship to the first run-ner-up, and a SSOO scholarship to the second runner-up. The newly crowned queen will participate at events throughout the four-day weekend as well as represent Nappanee at the January Indiana State Festivals Association Scholarship Pageant, and area parade events. DAILY ACTIVITY REPORTS - On July 20, at approximately 8 a.m., an Indiana Class B MDC License Plate was recovered on an unknown road by an unknown citizen in Elkhart County. The License Plate was found to be stolen from LaPorte County, Indiana. - On July 20, between the times of 8:45 a.in. and 4:15 p.m., a white 2015 Chevy Tahoe was hit in the south parking lot of KMAC Controls, located at 19476 Industrial Drive in New Paris. An unknown suspect had fled the scene, causing damage to the white 2015 Chevy Tahoe belonging to Michelle Yoder, age 47. - On July 21, at around 6:55 p.m., Jeffrey West, age 47, reported someone took a 2017 Steco Cargo Trailer from his property in the 68000 block of County Road 17 in New Paris on July 15. - On July 22, at approximately 1:13 a.m., Robert L. Jones, age 75, was involved in a single vehicle collision in the area of County Road 146, south of County Road 46. Robert Jones was found to be intoxicated after failing field sobriety tests and a certified chemical test with a result of .091 BrAC. Robert Jones was incarcerated for operating while intoxicated. - On Jiily 22, at 12:09 a.m., in the 17000 block of County Road 42, Ricardo Acevedo, age 31, was involved in a vehicle accident while operating a 2015 gray Chevy Malibu. Ricardo Acevedo was later found to have operated a motor vehicle while intoxicated, endangering two children that were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, as well as operating while never receiving prior. Ricardo Acevedo was incarcerated at the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department for operating while intoxicated and operating while never receiving - prior. - On July 22, at 12:37 p.m., Brett Haines, 52, of the 24000 block of County Road 26, reported that sometimes between July 20 at 4 p.m. 'and July 22 at 12:37 p.m., a suspect burglarized his father’s residence in the 60000 block of County Road 13 by forcing entry into the residence through the back
