Citizen complaint leads to drug arrests
by Amy Lant-Wenger Editor INDIANA - A drug investigation that was launched in South Bend resulted in the arrest of six individuals from four different northern Indiana counties, including Marshall. Late in the evening of Wednesday, July 11, the Indiana State Police launched a drug investigation after receiving a complaint from a citizen regarding possible drug activity in the A QO block of Morris Street in South Bend. Trooper Kyle Hudson made a traffic stop on a gold Chrysler in the area of Kemble and Donald streets at approximately 9:30 p.m., which resulted in the arrest of the driver, 37 year old Ryan Hayes of Knox. Hayes has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level six felony; possession of a narcotic, also a level six felony; possession of a Schedule IV drug, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of a legend drug, a level six felony. Two passengers in the Chrysler were also arrested. Christina Bradford, 28, of Knox, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of a narcotic, a level six felony; possession of a Schedule IV drug, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of a legend drug, a level six felony. Also arrested was David Scarberry, age 39, of Donaldson. He faces charges of possession of a narcotic, a level six felony; possession of a Schedule IV drug, a class A misdemeanor; and
Apple Blossom Pageant registration underway
NAPPANEE - The Nappanee Miss Apple Blossom Scholarship Pageant will headline the opening events at the 43rd annual Nappanee Apple Festival, with the festivities planned for Thursday, September 13. Incorporating a sports theme for the introduction portion of the pageant, contestants will be competing on the main stage at Kountry Cabinets Entertainment Tent Depot Plaza at 7 p.m.

ELKHART COUNTY - The Greater Elkhart County Stormwater Partnership and Elkhart County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) are now offering the Stormwater Education Field Trip Incentive (SEFTI). ELKHART COUNTY - The Indiana State Police is accepting applications for two Regional Dispatcher positions at the Toll Road Post to staff the Regional Dispatch Center that operates out of that facility, located at 52422 CR 17. This dispatch center covers the length of the Toll Road, as well as the Bremen district. The Bremen District covers Elkhart, St. Joseph, Marshall, and Kosciusko counties. Primary responsibilities of a dispatcher is to receive, record, and accurately dispatch information to police personnel, other law enforcement agencies, and other support services through the use of a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System, Records Management System (RMS), Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL), Geographic Information System (GIS), and other Regional Dispatch Center resources.
