Spring rainstorms might bring power outages or loss of cable connections. Moving patio furniture, setting up lawn furniture or hoeing the garden and flower beds may easily lead to interference with utility lines for some homeowners. The important thing in any of these scenarios is to act immediately to prevent further damage—and know who to call upon for needed repairs. WATER LEAKS Issues involving use of city water, and waste water, services should be called into the office of Gale Gerber who manages both of these city utility providers. Gerber, and his staff, may be reached weekdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., at 574-773-4623, or by email at [email protected] . After normal work hours, on weekends, and in cases of emergencies—such as broken water mains, leaking fire hydrants, etc. residents should call the local emergency services dispatch center, 574-773-8400. CABLE TV LOSS During rain storms it is common to experience issues with cable television reception. Mediacom users should call 855-633-4426. Those experiencing this misfortune should contact NIPSCO, 1-800-464-7726, to alert that company and identify in what area the outage is occurring. the newly updated city website: www. Nappanee.org. That internet site brings visitors a click away from information concerning all levels of the City of Nappanee, and offers opportunity for the public to share ideas on new and existing programs. It boasts an updated look and new city logo. Brooklyn Moore, Nappanee Director of Community Outreach and designer of the updated website, stresses that the information portal provides easier access, and is fully responsive. She is confident the site will be simple to use from desktop computers, smartphones and tablets alike. In designing the website, Moore called on assistance from an area company, Digital Hill. "The City of Nappanee's website was long overdue for a redesign that will be both beneficial to our residents and visitors in the area," said Moore. "This website is a vital platform for communication between the residents and the city government."
