Dashing for dollars
By Amy Lant-Wenger Editor WAKARUSA Sometimes, they ran. And sometimes, they walked. Others took a more sprightly attitude by skipping. And still others embraced the concept of teamwork, by holding hands with friends and stepping confidently along. However they chose to do it was perfectly fine, for the goal was the same. The objective was to complete as many laps around the gym as they could. And when the students of Wakarusa Elementary had tallied up their laps and their corresponding pledges, they came away confident knowing that they were raising funds to help their school. That is the spirit behind the school's annual Jog-a-Thon, which was held over a two-day span on Feb. 15 and 16. This year marked the 6th for this event, which is coordinated with the assistance of the Wakarusa PTO. Every cent that is brought in by the student pledge totals goes toward benefits for the school. Last year, the children managed to gather enough money to assist with the new playground project. For rewards, the top earners in each grade level will receive cash prizes, while those who completed the most laps can select from rewards such as snack par-

Performers sought for 18 RBT season NAPPANEE - The Round Bam Theatre at Amish Acres, Nappanee, and Artistic Director Amber Burgess, are seeking resident company members for its nine montn 2018 season of repertory theatre on Saturday, March 10 from 12-6 p.m. and Sunday, March 11 from 2-6 p.m. Accompanist Heidi Ferris will be provided. Submissions of neadshots and resumes are currently being accepted. The company will include non-union actor/singer/dancers and technical staff. The 2018 season includes "The Rat Pack Lounge," "Plain and Fancy," "Mamma Mia!," Barry Manilow's "Copacabana," "Happy Days - A New Musical," "Lend Me a Tenor," and "Annie." Auditions for orphans in the production of "Annie" will be held in July. Repertory company members have roles in every production, with a few job-in actors filling ensemble slots in th'e season. The call will be held by appointment only at The Round Bam Theatre, 1600 W. Market St., Nappanee, on Saturday, March 10 from 12-6 p.m. and on Sunday, March 11 from 2-6 p.m. Please bring two contrasting musical pieces, a monologue, a headshot and resume, and a list of possible conflicts for the year.
