Obituaries Judge Lt. Col. Ret Evan S. Roberts September 11, 1965 - November 11, 2017 NAPPANEE Judge Lt. Col. Ret. Evan S. Roberts, 52,

Nappanee, died at 3:30 am, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago after a courageous battle with AML Leukemia which was diagnosed in March 2017. He was bom September 11, 1965 in Chicago, 111. to Donald and Phyllis (Wexler) Roberts. He was a graduate of Deerfield High School in Chicago, Purdue University, John Marshall Law School in Chicago and

earned his Master of Laws (LLM) Degree from Georgetown University. He served in the United States Marines in Quantico, Va. Lt. Col. Roberts mentored many new JAG officers of the responsibilities they would face as new officers. On August 4,1990, he married Susan Arch in Bremen. In 1994 they moved to Nappanee from Quantico, Va. He opened his first law office in Bremen and opened his office in Nappanee a year later. On January 1, 2006, he was appointed by Governor Mitch Daniels as Judge of Elkhart Superior Court I. Lt. Col. Roberts was a board member of Family Christian Development Center in Nappanee. He enjoyed mentoring to others and most of all being husband and dad. Surviving is his wife, Susan; daughters, Zoe and Elle, both at home; father, Donald Roberts, Chicago; sisters, Jennifer (Darrell) Dockery, Bowling Brook, 111., Mary (Doug) Frist, Napoleon, Ohio; brother, Adam (Christine) Roberts, Deerfield, 111.; mother-in-law, Linda Arch, Nappanee; sister-in-law, Angie (Andy) Swain, Nappanee; and brother, Chas (Shelly) Arch, Seattle, Wash. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Roberts. Visitation was from 2-4 and 6-8, Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017 in the Grand Hall at Nappanee Missionary Church. Military Honor Guard services with Pastor Dave Engbrecht took place at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to Evan Roberts Memorial Scholarship. Through the Student Council's work with the Student Hunger Drive, there was an additional gain of 971 pounds of food that will be donated to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana. It is amazing to realize that in a little over one week's time, the Wa-Nee School Corporation was able to raise 30,131 pounds of food for the local food banks. With the added contributions of all ten participating schools, there was a grand total raised of over 123,381

ECSD raffle benefits youth ELKHART COUNTY The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department is assisting the Indiana Sheriff's Association to raise funds for the Indiana Sheriff's Youth Ranch by selling raffle tickets for a 2016 RAM 1500 pickup. Tickets are available to purchase until Nov. 30 at the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department Administration Building, located at 26861 CR 26, Elkhart, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tickets are priced at $2 each, or three for $5, seven for $10,15 for S2O, 38 for SSO, or 80 for SIOO.
