A summer to remember in Elkhart County

ELKHART COUNTY - It's been a fantastic summer, but most of Elkhart County will be bidding farewell to most of the Seward Johnson sculptures while Quilt Gardens are closing down in preparation for another colorful season in 2018. There is one piece of good news. The "God Bless America" monu-mental-scale sculpture will be staying in Central Park in downtown Elkhart until February 2018. The extended exhibit of this sculpture was the result of the overwhelmingly positive reception to the sculpture

The tremendous amount of goodwill around the exhibition made the decision to extend the stay for the monumental sculpture an easy, one, Stoeke said. "We have so enjoyed the many comments and e-mails that we've received from Elkhart County and from visitors to the Quilt Garden this summer. By Amy Lant-Wenger Editor NAPPANEE - What started out as a simple occasion of dining out in downtown Nappanee soon became a serendipitous event for Brock and Hanna BeMiller. They took notice of the fact that the former Thai Expressions storefront on the West Market Street thoroughfare had recently been vacated. "We looked at it and thought it would be a perfect place for a boutique," Hanna BeMiller recalls. Shortly thereafter, they took a look around at the spacious but cozy location. "I had a real peace about it," she said of that time.

spectacular exhibit a reality," Stoeke said. Elkhart Mayor Tim Neese welcomed the decision. "I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the Seward Johnson monumental would remain in downtown Elkhart for an extended period. The sculptures have been an exciting addition to the city's downtown and beyond, and I want to thank the Elkhart County Convention and Visitors Bureau for providing this attraction at no cost to the city of Elkhart," Neese said.
