Panthers destroy Elkhart Memorial 63-14

By Steve Sittler Correspondent ELKHART What a difference a week makes. After struggling on offense against Northern Lakes Conference (NLC) leader Northridge a week ago, the Class 4A #7-ranked North Wood Panthers rushed for 471 yards and eight touchdowns on their way to a 65-14 beating of hapless Elkhart Memorial. Landen Gessinger, Brayton Yoder, and Bronson Yoder each had two scores to ruin Memorial's homecoming night and boost the Panthers to 5-2 on the season, 3-2 in the NLC. After forcing a three-and-out on Memorial's first possession, which was followed by a shanked 14-yard punt, the Panthers scored on their first offensive play when Gessinger bolted in from 38 yards out on a read option up the middle. Bronson Yoder ran in the PAT and North Wood led 8-0 less than two minutes into the contest. Bronson Yoder then intercepted Memorial's Tyler Lehner ,on the first play after the ensuing kickoff, but the Panthers gave the ball back to the Chargers on a botched handoff three plays later. Memorial then managed to pick up a pair of first downs, one of them on a pass interference penalty off a fake punt, but a sack by North Wood's Jake Lone killed the drive and the Chargers punted the ball back to the Panthers at their own 40-yard line. Bronson Yoder promptly ripped off a 60-yard TD run for the Panthers' second one-play scoring drive of then night, then carried the pigskin in on the two-point conversion to make it 16-0 Panthers. After another Memorial punt, North Wood scored again early in

Unfortunately, it only went downhill from there for the Chargers as they fumbled a pop-up kickoff at their own 18-yard line which led to a mad scramble for the football. North Wood's Jaden Miller eventually emerged from the bottom of a large dogpile clutching the pigskin, and four plays later Brayton Yoder bulled in from the one-yard line to make it 37-0 North Wood. Memorial fumbled again on their first play from scrimmage after the kickoff but the Panthers returned the favor on another bobbled handoff. Not to be outdone, incredibly the Chargers fumbled a third straight time, giving North Wood
