The regularly scheduled Town Council meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 6:30 p.m. will still take place at the Wakarusa Town Hall at 100 W. Waterford St. in downtown Wakarusa. GATHER NEW RECIPES NAPPANEE Exchange recipes and collect some new favorites in this monthly program, held at the Nappanee Public Library. Submit recipes to the library in advance of each program, and bring a dish to snare. Guests go home with a stack of new recipes each time! Group members must provide their own supplies - no registration is necessary. CATCH THE PINTEREST INTEREST NAPPANEE Visit the Nappanee Public Library once each month to create a project straight from Pinterest, the popular online pinboard. The first crafting session for the year has been scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 10 from 6-8 p.m. The featured craft will be making a Bullet Journal. FAMILY DATE NIGHT NAPPANEE The Nappanee Parks and Recreation department, in cooperation with Visiting Angels and Weaver Home Improvement and Construction, is planning a "Family Date Night" for Friday, Jaa 27 at the West Park Pavilion in Nappanee. Damage minimized after hose breaks

Students and staff discovered that sometime during the overnight hours, or very early in the predawn, a hot water hose had ruptured at Wakarusa Elementary School, sending water cascading through the south end of the hallway near and within the fourth grade classrooms. The origin of the break was traced to a heating unit in room 501, which was among the classrooms experiencing the most significant water damage. Otner rooms affected included 502,503, and 504. "Our head custodian, Mr. Eggers, worked along with the custodial staff from other Wa-Nee buildings to immediately begin extracting water from the carpets and classrooms until workers from a private restoration company arrived on site to continue remediating the damage," said Principal John Payne in a letter that was sent to parents that same day. "Proper steps are being taken to full restore the classrooms and items to original working condition." The classrooms that were situated in that area were closed during the following days leading up to Christmas vacation, as students were temporarily moved to other classrooms within the school.
