SANTA COMING TO NAPPANEE NAPPANEE Amish Acres will be welcoming one of the best loved Christmas elves when Santa comes to town on Saturday morning, Dec. 10. Guests can still register to have breakfast with Santa, with the meal set to take place at 9:30 a.m. There will be games, stories, caroling, and a ride around the pond on the "Candy Cane Express." DIAL-A-STORY HOLIDAY EDITION WAKARUSA - "The Elves and the Shoemaker" is currently running on the Wakarusa Public Library Dial-a-Story line at 574-862-4441. Callers will hear how the elves help an old shoemaker through the busy Christmas season and are rewarded with a special surprise. FAMILY NIGHT WITH THE GRINCH' NAPPANEE - The final edition of the 2016 "Movie in the Park" will conclude on Saturday, December 10 with the contemporary holiday family feature, "The Grinch." The movie will be shown at the downtown pavilion in Nappanee, starting at 8 p.m. Brings chairs or blankets, along with refreshments and settle in for this free film event. Popcorn will be available at no charge while supplies last. The "Movie in the Park" series is sponsored by the department of Nappanee Parks and Recreation, Friends of the Nappanee Public Library, and Lake City Bank. Musical performances will be offered by students of several Wa-Nee area schools, and there will be free hot cocoa, cookies, and a visit by Santa Claus himself. JOIN THE GREY SPIDERS WAKARUSA The Wakarusa Public Library's Grey Spider Club will be meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 2:30 p.m. Students in grades K-5 are invited to join the club. Participants will be asked to read books from one of the nominee lists so that they are eligible to vote in April 2017 for their favorite. At this meeting, "Building Our House by Jonathan Bean and "With Books and Bricks" by Suzanne Slade will be highlighted and attendees will do a craft or activity. HOUDAY HAPPENINGS IN WAKY WAKARUSA Head on over to the Wakarusa Public Library on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m. for a night of holiday cheer with your family. Have your family portrait taken and create a frame to preserve the memory, welcome the "Elf on the Shelf" named Dewey, and don't miss Michiana's very own "The Roz Puppets" as they present a holiday puppet show sure to entertain even the biggest kids. Registration is required for this event, and children must be accompanied by an adult. MAKE A CUTE KEEPSAKE NAPPANEE The public is invited to a Paint Your Pet party from 2-4 p.m. on Dec. 17 at the West Park Pavilion in Nappanee. The cost is $25 and includes a canvas, template creation, brushes, paint, and all other supplies. Advance registration is required. FOOD DRIVE CONTINUES NAPPANEE - People Link Staffing Solutions of Nappanee is continuing with their holiday food drive through Dec. 30. For every non-perishable item brought to the office, located at 107 W. Lincoln Street in Nappanee, donors will receive one entry into a drawing for two SSO Visa gift cards, with the winners chosen on Dec. 30. All items will be given to Open Door food pantry of Nappanee. There is a particular need for the following items: canned vegetables, crackers, canned fruit, toilet paper, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, mac and cheese, chips, and paper towels.
