Waves sweep over Sharkfest

By Amy Lant-Wenger Assistant Editor NAPPANEE - North Wood High School was the setting of a victorious competition for the Wa-Nee Waves swim team. The young squad of 37 swimmers participated in the Plymouth Sharkfest over the weekend of Nov. 12 and 13, and each of the members had an astonishing achievement in placing their own personal best times. The team scored a total of 283 points overall, finishing in sixth place. Elle Roberts was the first place winner in the 12 and older category, and Ty Stankovich ranked second overall in the age bracket of 10 and under. Next up for the group will be the WWST Santa Swim Invite, which will take place at the North Wood High School pool on Saturday, Dec. 3. Nick Lechlitner hit three 3s on his way to a gamehigh 15 points. Ben Vincent tossed in 12 and Tanner Feenstra scored seven points. Colin Glick finished with five, and Nate Newcomer chipped in four. Vincent also recorded four rebounds and three steals while Landon Kemp, Newcomer and Feenstra all finished with three rebounds. The Panthers improved their record to 11-1.
