year to Chamber Member businesses who faithfully demonstrate a diverse support of the Chamber," explains Shively. "This indudes longstanding membership, sponsorship dollars, committee representation, and event volunteering." Here are the three businesses given this award: Jenkins Automotive/NAPA Jenkins Automotive has been in Wakarusa for 27 years, and Dave Fox has been the manager since day one. Cathy, Dave's wife, brought him to Wakarusa from the Plymouth area, back in their dating years. Cathy and Dave have two married daughters: Kayla, who is married to Dan Schmucker, and Chelsea, who is married to Jesse Ramer. The Foxes are members of the Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren. Dave is a Wakarusa volunteer firefighter and a member of the Michiana Jeep Club. He enjoys working on cars and being outside. Jenkins Automotive/NAPA has been a sponsor of many local events, and most recently, Dave has served on the Car Show committee. McCormick Motors Bemie Beer accepted the award on behalf of McCormick Motors. Bemie was born and raised in Milford, Indiana and joined McCormick Motors in 1961. In 1997, he became the company's President and Dealer Principal. Bemie's wife, Peg, was present for the ceremony, as were several staff members from the company. 1 > McCormick Motors was founded in 1953 by Mr. Gordon "Short" McCormick, and was originally located in downtown Nappanee. In 1957, the business moved to its current location on U.S. 6 West. The business had steady growth over the following sixty years. The dealership occupies one quarter mile of frontage along U.S. 6 and sells five product brands Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Isuzu Truck, and Hino Truck. It offers a full range of services, including light and medium duty repairs and a body shop. McCormick Motors also provides commercial vehicles nationally and personal use vehicles regionally. They partner with the regional truck body builders such as Supreme, Rockport, Utilimaster, Medix Ambulance, Starcraft Bus, Arboc Bus, and Gulfstream Coach to provide chassis solutions for their product lines. Like the businesses they support, they recognize both the value and importance of being members of the Chamber of Commerce. They are currently active members of the Chambers of Commerce of not only Nappanee and Wakarusa, but also Bremen, Milford, Syracuse, and Goshen. McCormick Motors has also been a major sponsor of the joint Wakarusa/Nappanee Chamber Golf Outing for the past 13 years.

Weldy Insurance Weldy Insurance Agency is a family owned institution started by Virg Weldy in 1971. Scott, son of Virg and Lana Weldy, was born and raised in Wakarusa. After graduating from North Wood High School in 1993, Scott earned his degree from Taylor University, where he also met his wife, Susannah, who came to Taylor from upstate New York. Scott and Susannah were married in the spring of 1998 and made their home in Wakarusa. Scott and Susannah worked with Virg for almost a decade before he passed away unexpectedly in 2012. His absence left a huge void both in their family and the business. In the weeks and months following his death, Pati Goss came to the office to help with filing, mailings, and gave moral support as they regained their footing and moved forward on their own. Susannah says that Pati's friendship, encouragement, and help at the office made it possible for them to keep going and she still works at the office part-time. Scott and Susannah have two children, Christopher, an Bth grader at North Wood Middle School, and Claire, a sth grader at Wakarusa Elementary. Weldy Insurance plays a valuable role in helping the Chamber make Wakarusa a great place to live and work. Their investment of time, energy, and resources played a valuable role in the business being chosen for this award. Gene Zercher - Teacher of the Year Gene is a 1969 Nappanee High School graduate, the final year that Wakarusa and Nappanee had separate high schools. During the 1968-69 school year, he served on a combined student council that named North Wood High School and chose its mascot, colors, and school song. He felt privileged to be a part of the groundbreaking ceremonies for the high school with the school board, which included Dr. Robert "Doc" Abel and his future father-in-law, Chuck Stump. Gene completed 41 years of classroom teaching, working in biology and human anatomy and physiology. He is beginning his 45th year of coaching at Wa-Nee, as he coached baseball C-team before stepping into a classroom. He has coached football and basketball on a variety of levels and is currently serving as varsity assistant in the girls basketball program. Gene has three children, Charlie, married to Trischa of Nappanee, parents of Jack, Ava, and Will; Amy, who lives in Boston, Massachusetts; and Ben, who lives in Indianapolis. Gene is a member of the Nappanee Brethren in Christ Church, currently serving as a trustee. He is also active in organizing mission trips, serving in meal
