Ice cream social Photos by Amy Lant-Wenger You can always tell that the beginning of a new school year is in sight when the streets of downtown Wakarusa close for the evening, the music rings majestically through the night sky,and the ice cream starts flowing! Its all part of the annual "Ice Cream Social" tradition, in which the fall sports teams are introduced and the award-winning cheerleading squad is joined by the state renowned Red Regiment” marching band. The audience chimes in for one giant, spectacular pep session. Among the teams that were introduced for the 2016 North Wood High School fall season were the cheerleaders, the football team, and the marching band. This year's event took place Aug. 5, just five days away from the start of the school year.
