Mitchell Jacob McLane of Goshen and Kelsey Dawn Kauffman of Goshen announce their engagement to be married May 28, 2016 at Red Tail Farm in Goshen. The future bride is a 2005 graduate of Northridge High School and earned her bachelor's in elementary education from Ball State in 2009 and master's in library science from Clarion University in Clarion, Pa. in 2014. She is a teen librarian with Middlebury Community Library. The future groom is a 2007 graduate of Grace Baptist Christian School, Plymouth. He is a musician and works for Lake City Bank ia Goshen.

Obituaries Jane Alice Slabaugh Naylor March 12, 1926 - Nov. 20, 2015
INDIANAPOLIS Jane Alice Slabaugh Naylor, 89, of Indianapolis, died peacefully at home on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015. Jane was bom March 12, 1926, to the late Earl and Pearl (Yoder) Slabaugh in Nappanee. She is survived by her sbn Thomas Naylor of Indianapolis; Jeanette (Slabaugh) Johnson of Fort Wayne; Florence (George) Slabaugh of Nappanee, along with cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Paul and Quentin Slabaugh and sister Virginia
(Slabaugh) Huffman. She graduated from Manchester College and Ball State University. She taught physical education in IPS for nearly 40 years. She belonged to Meridian Street UMC, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Alpha Delta Kappa and the D.A.R. and she volunteered for many organizations including City Center, Day Spring Center, OASIS and the Eiteljorg Museum. Memorial Service is at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at Meridian Street UMC, 5500 Meridian St., Indianapolis. Memorials may be made to Meridian Street UMC Missions.

David L. Bowers Aug. 25, 1934 - Nov. 27, 2015
NAPPANEE David L. Bowers, age 81, of Nappanee, died unexpectedly of natural causes, Friday morning, Nov. 27, at the home of his son in Lebanon, Ohio. He was bom Aug. 25, 1934 in Elkhart to Harrison and Freida (Miller) Bowers. Mr. Bowers was a graduate of Nappanee High School and Ashland University. He lived most of his life in Nappanee. On July 21, 1957, he married Joanne M. Tate in Shreve, Ohio. Mr. Bowers served in the United
States Army from 1957-59. He was stationed in Germany and was chosen as a chaplain's assistant. He retired from Crown International in 1997 as chief financial officer. David was a lifetime member of the First Brethren Church. He was a 50 year member of Gideons International and loved Bible distributions. He had also worked with the Nappanee Chamber of Commerce and served as treasurer. He loved Nappanee and enjoyed spending time at Syracuse Lake and Lake Wawasee. Surviving is his wife, Joanne; children, Robin Joan Bonnell, Tucson, Ariz., Scott David (Sherrie) Bowers, Lebanon, Ohio; and grandchildren, Kelsey, Cory, David Alexander Bowers, and Anya Bonnell. Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and for one hour prior to the Funeral Service, which will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 4 at First Brethren Church. Rev. Tom Schiefer and Rev. Bart Shaw will officiate and burial will be in Union Center Cemetery with Military Graveside Services by Nappanee American Legion. Memorial contributions may given to First Brethren Church or Gideons International.
