CLASSIC CAR & CYCLE CRUISE-IN NAPPANEE Nappanee Missionary Church's Men's Ministry is hosting the sth Annual Classic Car & Cycle CruiseIn on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Heritage Pavilion, located in the northwest comer of the church's property. Vehicle registration begins at 5 p.m. Prizes will be a warded. Hamburgers, hot dogs and more will be served. The cost is $3. Anyone bringing a car or cycle will be admitted for free! NORTHWOOD r SPORTS PICTURES NAPPANEE North Wood High School will have a sports picture and media day on August 7. Volleyball will be photographed at 2:30 p.m. in the pit. Boys soccer will be photographed at 3 p.m. at the North Wood High School practice field. At 3:30 in the sam,e place, the girls soccer team will follow. Weekend of art and free school supplies
NAPPANEE—Big things are happening in Nappanee, August 6-9. The public is invited to take part in the popular Amish Acres Arts & Crafts Festival, happening all three days on the city's west side. And Wa-Nee Community Schools residents are invited to participate in Nappanee School Daze, August 8. AMISH ACRES ARTS & CRAFTS FESTIVAL While attending the Amish Acres Arts & Crafts Festival, kids of all ages can find special treasures ranging from sweet treats to specially designed toys and masterpieces to decorate the home. The festival is open August 6-8, from 9 a.m.

Amendments stall second reading for salary ordinance
' By Merrie Chapman .Advance Correspondent NAPPANEE—Ordinance #lsoo—fixing the salaries of appointed officers, officials and employees—came before the Nappanee Common Council for second reading on August 3. Following questions detailing pay in the Paramedic Emergency Services Department the measure was tabled. EMS Director Jim Sumpter questioned areas concerning Emergency Medical Technician pay, clothing allowances and spedfic pay concerning bonus hours worked. Traffic Safety Partnership has successful campaign
ELKHART COUNTY The Elkhart County Traffic Safety Partnership, made up of Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, Elkhart City Police, Goshen City Police, Nappanee Police, Wakarusa Police, Bristol Police, and Millersburg Police, increased patrbls this week, focusing on occupants safety as well as Child seat safety. The patrols ran from Monday, July 27 to Friday, July 31. Law enforcement has concluded this week's increased patrols and the following are the results for the five day period: Two driving while intoxicated arrests, one felony theft, 100 seatbelt violations, two child restraint violations, seven driving while suspended violations, and

"We were pleased to see that we were unable to locate many child restraint violations this week, we were looking very hard. We remind .parents that if they need assistance with child safety seats they may contact their local law enforcement agency to locate a child safety seat fitting station," said a representative of the initiative in an official statement. The Elkhart County Traffic Safety Partnership is committed to reducing injuries to children who are involved in vehicle crashes.
