Embrace The Pace almost here
NAPPANEE The Nappanee Area Chamber, of Commerce invites the local community to get away and Embrace The Pace in Nappanee from July 9 to 11. The weekend begins with free city-wide garage sales that start on July 9 and run through July 11. Everyone is sure to find a bargain or treasure. A list of garage sales can be picked up at the chamber office or found on their website and Facebook page. To be included on the list, contact the chamber. On Friday, July 10, the Moonlight Swim and Movie, featuring "Free Willy" will be shown at the Nappanee Municipal Pool at 9 p.m. Entry is $3 per person and includes swimming, the movie, and ice cream. For Saturday July 11, fun, food, shopping, and music will be available. The day is Second Saturday with retailers having special sales. Free garage sale spaces are available on Clark Street and will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. To reserve a space, call Liz at 574-773-3837. Nappanee Public Library will be hosting crafts for kids at 10 a.m. where the children can make a fireworks blitz craft while supplies last. The community is encouraged to stroll

From the beautiful downtown to Coppes Commons, LJ Wagner's to the east and Amish Acres and Dutch Village Market to the west. The town promises visitors they will be immersed in the slower pace of Nappanee. Stop at the Nappanee Center and pick up a map of the Countryside Shoppes to continue the experience. Also on Saturday is the fifth annual Cruise-In for the Club, a 70 miles bike run. Sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club, it will take place rain or shine. Motorcycle registration is at 1:30 p.m. with a ride out at 2:30 p.m. The Nappanee Fireman's Fish Fry will go from 4 to 8 p.m., and tickets are priced at $9 for adults. Children are $5, while children under five eat free. Tickets are available at the door and carryout is available. Oral History at Heritage House Nappanee residents are invited to attend a new interactive monthly program created by staff of the Evelyn Lehman Culp Heritage Collection. Participants will enjoy a casual time of conversation and reminiscing about memories of Nappanee during Coffee Break at Heritage House, 1700 Waterfall Drive, Nappanee, on July 9, and Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon. Kids will have the chance to drop in for this special activity in the children's department from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids' Craft Day at the Library is held on the second Saturday of each month in conjunction with Nappanee's city-wide Second Saturday events. I Healthworks Museum Visit Learn the jobs of major, organs in your body and how to take care of them when South Bend's Healthworks Museum comes to the Nappanee Public Library on Tuesday, July 7, from 3 to 4 p.m. Participants will take part in an outrageous game of Double Dare and be entered to win a family day pass for six to the museum at the close of the program. Kids of all ages are invited, and no registration is necessary. Those under the age of six must be accompanied by an adult. Glass Etching Kids in grades six through 12 are invited to make etched drink glasses with superhero logos at the next Teen Tuesday program at the Nappanee Public Library. Meet in The Cube from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on July 7. All materials will be supplied, and snacks will be provided. No registration is necessary. Pinterest Night Make an easy no-sew fabric cosmetic pouch at the next Pinterest Night at the Nappanee Library. Crafters will meet in the Cube, the Library's new makerspace, on Wednesday, July 8, from 6-8 p.m. All materials will be provided to make one pouch. Cost is $5 each. Pinterest Night is designed as a collaborative, leam-as-you-make program where participants share ideas and tips to complete popular projects found on Pinterest, the virtual bulletin board and Internet hub for bookmarking lifestyle links and images. ‘Free Willy’ at the Nappanee pool Nappanee's Movies in the Park series continues with a showing of Free Willy at the public pool on Friday, July 10, at 9 p.m. All ages are invited to watch this 1993 family favorite while swimming or lounging poolside.
