‘Grease’ is the word at Roundbarn Theater

NAPPANEE 2003, Grease opened on the Joseph Stein Stage to countless sold out houses, making it one of our most popular productions ever. Now, twelve years later, Grease will make its triumphant return to The Round Bam Theatre, as it launches the Summer Repertory season. Grease was first performed at the original Kingston Mines Chicago Club in 1971, which was located in an old trolley bam. It opened Off-Broadway in 1972, but later transferred to Broadway on its way to receiving seven Tony Award nominations. The musical is set in the fictional Rydell High in 1959, and follows ten "working-class" teenagers as they navigate the complexities of peer pressure, politics, personal core values and love. The core of Grease; however, is the score, which attempts to emulate the sounds of early 1950's rock and roll with such universally familiar tunes as "Summer Nights," "Greased Lightnin'," "It's Raining on Prom Night," and "All Alone at the DriveIn Movie." Grease will welcome the return of two of The Round Bam Theatre's most tenured alumni. Kent M. Lewis returns to Amish Acres for the first time since 1999 to direct and choreograph the production, Kent directed The Round Bam Theatre's first repertory production in 1996, Fiddler on the Roof, as well as choreographed The Music Man and The Baker's Wife in 1997. He was last seen performing on the Joseph Stein Stage as Frank Butler in the 1999 production of Annie Get Your Gun. He will be joined by former Artistic Director, Jerry O'Boyle as Miss Lynch. Jerry is returning to The Round Bam Theatre for the first time since 2000, and will be familiar to RBT audiences as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, the Baker in The Baker's

Wife and of course, Papa Yoder in Plain and Fancy. He recently spent seven years as Edna in the National Tour of Hairspray.
