I NAPPANEE On Sunday afternoon, June 1, the new-ly-created North Wood Scholarship Foundation (formerly Dollars for Scholars) awarded 78 scholarships to graduating seniors in 78 minutes. The scholarships totaled over $84,000,
Annual garden tour held July 12
ELKHART —The Michiana Master Gardener's Association is hosting its' 17th Annual Garden Tour from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. July 12 in the Simonton Lake Area of Elkhart County. The garden tour showcases eight private gardens situated around the beautiful Simonton Lake and in the near vicinity. The gardens feature various styles from cottage garden to formal displaying the annuals, perennials, native plants and waterfalls. Various unique garden accessories are displayed throughout the gardens very artfully. The plants are marked for easier identification. Master Gardeners will be present at each garden to answer any garden related questions. The Hospitality Center is at Simonton Lake Sportsman's Club, located at 51036 County Road 11. The center is open from 9 a.m. 1 p.m. and the tour begins here. The Hospitality Center hosts several educational booths, plants

Incidents The following incident is currently under investigation by officers of the Elkhart County or Marshall County Sherrif's Department or other local law enforcement: June 7, 2:33 a.m., Mary Lorusso, 57, was stopped for a traffic violation on Walnut Sreet, west of Main Street in Nappanee. Lorusso was found to be operating while intoxicated after failing field sobriety test and having a .08 BAC at 3:22 a.m. She was incarcerated.
