Janyce Lucille Givens Guckenberger Nov. 19, 1933 - May 16, 2014 NAPPANEE Janyce Ludlle Givens Guckenberger, age 80, of Nappanee, died at 1:15 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2014 at

Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa. She was bom Nov. 19,1933 in Columbus to Arthur and Opal (Vance) Givens. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1951, and she became a Phi Beta Phi Sorority member while attending two ygars at DePauw University. Janyce was a member of the United Methodist Church of Columbus where she met and married Donald P. Guckenberger on June 21, 1953. They celebrated their 60th wed-

ding anniversary last year. The Guckenbergers moved to Nappanee in 1955. She is survived by her husband Donald and three daughters, Debora (Theadore) Martens, Findley, Ohio, Joanna (Steve Phillips) Guckenberger, Nappanee, Janet (Jerry) Miller, Kettering, Ohio; one son, Donald Paul (Penny) Guckenberger 11, Avon; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Brady, Nathan, Brett, Bryce, Tyler, Sydney, and Samantha; one sister, JoAnn (Jack) Baker, Columbus. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Thomas Givens; sister-in-law, Norma Givens; sister, Jean Lee Givens Boll; and nephew, Steve Givens. Janyce was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nappanee, and she loved to read, sew and knit. She was also a member of Tri Kappa Sorority. Janyce also liked to volunteer to work with youth. Having three daughters, she was encouraged to become a Campfire leader. She got them outside to camp and travel. Deb's group went to the Alagan Forest in Michigan to camp and visited the Tulip festival. Joanna's group went to Chicago for a weekend and went to a fancy restaurant. Janet's group went to Washington D.C. and Gettysburg, Pa. She guided them through the program to also achieve the WO-HE-LO award (equal to the Eagle Scout Award). Janyce was a Campfire Board member and was later selected to become the executive of the Nappanee campfire Council. Thus guiding the Council to become the only one in the United States to have more WO-HE-LO recipients per capita for its size. Later she became an assistant Den leader for her grandson's Den in Cub Scouts. She agreed to be an Assistant Council Commissioner for the LaSalle Council, BSA. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 7,2014 at the Nappanee United Methodist Church. Family and friends may call for two hours prior to the service. Rev. Jim Davidson will officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to the United Methodist Church. Arrangements are with Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. DEATH NOTICE Raymond G. Kroft 60th Charles G. and Marcia A. Kroft will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with friends and family at a gathering in Akron. Charles G. Kroft and Marcia A. Miller were united in marriage June 6,1954 in Akron by Rev. Harold Conrad. Their children are: Angela (Robert) Thomas of Delaware, Ohio, Mark (Cindy) Kroft of Valparaiso, and Jay (Monica) Kroft of Rochester, 111. They also have five grandchildren: Stephanie (Patrick) Joseph of Worthington, Ohio, Licoln Kroft of Seattle, Wash,. ADULT READING PROGRAM "Literary Elements" is the theme for the Adult Reading program which begins on June 2. Participants high school age through adult may take part in this event. A reading log will be kept for every six books read during the nine-week period. The completed list can be returned to receive a gift and to be registered for the ,£raM pnzes. This progrgm will end on Aug. 2. STORY HOUR A story about color will be presented during Story Hour at 10:15 a.m. June 3. Children ages three to six years old may register to attend. MATH RIDDLES Math riddles will be part of the program for children just having completed

Rensberger 50th Devon and Alethea Rensberger will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family at an open house on June 14, from 2 until 7 p.m. at their house, 2759 N 200 W, Rochester. . Devon Rensberger and Alethea Perry were married June 7,1964 in Bourbon. ' Their children are: Sally Morrison of Bluffton, Robert Rensberger of Wabash, and Lora Sembach of St. Petersburg Fla. They also have six grandchildren: Virginia (Morrison) Dilley of Fort Wayne, Danielle Morrison of Fort Wayne, Michal Rensberger of Wabash, Timothy Rensberger of Wabash, Justin Sembach of St. Petersburg Fla., and Nikolai Sembach of St. Petersburg Fla. Devon owned South Side Truck Service in Nappanee for more than 25 years. He currently owns Rensberger Repair in Rochester. Alethea retired from Holiday Rambler in Wakarusa.

NAPPANEE ÜBRARY KEEPS KIDS BUSY THIS SUMMER There will be no excuses for summer boredom blues in Nappanee this year! The Nappanee Public Library is offering over a dozen activities for kids of all ages in June, with no registration required! Bring imagination and build with the Library's Lego collection every Thursday between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Family movie matinees will be held at 2 p.m. Fridays, June 13 and June 27. Enjoy animated excitement and comedy along with a popcorn snack and a drink in the comfort of the Library's meeting rooms. Make & Take "Eco Crafts" created with recycled materials will also be offered in the Children's Department on 10 a.m. and June 20. Several weekly sciencethemed activities, which reinforce NPL's Summer Reading Challenge theme, "Fizz, Boom, Read," will take place throughout the summer. 1 Programs are designed for children ages six through eleven and include Mad Scientist Mondays on June 9, 16 and 23, offering simple science experiments and Totally Awesome Tuesdays, which will bring science, nature and technology to life with the following special guest presenters from 3 4 p.m.

Olmstead failed a sobriety test and refused two certifed chemical tests and was incarcerated.
