Northwood High School freshmen receive academic honors
NAPPANEE - Eighty-four North Wood High School freshmen were recognized for their academic achievements at an honors dinner, sponsored by the Zeta Nu Chapter of the Kappa, Kappa, Kappa Sorority on Monday, April 14. Entertainment for the evening was provided by the North Wood High School Dawning Generation directed by Jeff Cramer. Principal David Maugel and Vice Principal Jay Olson awarded Honor Recognition Certificates to these young people, who earned at least 3.2 (out of 4.0) in their fall and winter trimesters at the high school. Chambers join together for golf outing event
NAPPANEE The Nappanee and Wakarusa Chambers of Commerce invite the community to spend the day with them on June 14 for their Joint Chamber Golf Outing. One of the most popular and fun outings in the area, this event is a great networking opportunity for all. Morning and afternoon tee times are available. The outing is held at McCormick's Creek Golf Course in Nappanee. Registration is S3OO for a team of four and will be accepted through Monday, June 2. and Nelsons. The winning team with the outing's best score will receive a small cash prize. Golfers will have the opportunity to purchase 50/50 raffle tickets for some great golfing gear. Along with the popular putting contest, there will be a longest drive, longest putt and Hole-in-One contest. Net proceeds for this event provide college scholarships for area students through the Northwood Scholarship Fund. Nappanee Missionary hosts third annual summer soccer camp
NAPPANEE Nappanee Missionary Church hosts its third annual NMC Soccer Camp July 18 and July 20 for students entering first through sixth grade during the 2014-15 school year. The camp is held at Nappanee Missionary Church, 70417 SR 19, Nappanee, 9-11 a.m. each day for first and second graders and 9 a.m.-noon each day for grades third and sixth graders. Camp participants will do drills and scrimmage in the following age group: first and second grade, third and fourth grade, and fifth and sixth grade. The cost is $35 by May 11, $45 by June 8. Families with multiple camp participants receive a $lO-discount for the second, third and fourth children. Each participant will receive a Camp T-Shirt, a Camp Soccer Ball, and a free ticket to a semi-pro soccer match in South Bend. Visitation hours change at county jail
ELKHART COUNTY Effective Monday, May 5, inmate visitation hours at the Elkhart County Correctional Complex will be reduced due to temporary staffing issues. A number of other changes will occur.
