* James Roy ‘Jim’ Burt Jan. 21, 1935- Dec. 22, 2013 APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. James Roy "Jim" Burt, 78, passed away on Dec 22,2013 in Apache Junction, Ariz. after a long courageous struggle with Parkinson's disease. Jim was bom Jan. 21, 1935 in Nappanee, and lived most of his life in the Chicago area, before moving to Apache Junction 18 years ago. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Carolyn; five children Jami (John), Lee Ann, Dennis (Kathy), Linda (Jim), Lori (Michael); 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchil-dren. He is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Lora Belle Burt, and sister, Mary Jane Burt. Jim graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, and went on to work for Westinghouse Electric for over 40 years. He touched the lives of many people with his generosity of time and spirit, and was actively involved in his church and community for many years. The family held a memorial service in his honor, at the Gold Canyon United Methodist Church on Feb. 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you honor Jim's memory with donations to Parkinson's disease or Hospice of the Valley.

STORY HOUR 'Tale Feathers" is the theme for Story Hour to be held at 10:15 a.m. March 3 and March 4 at the Wakarusa Library. Children ages three to five years old can register to attend and hear a story about a little bird's amazing adventure. An activity using the parachute will take place. BOOK BITES Book Bites will _be held at 10:15 a.m. March 5 and March 6. This is a story time for children ages three to five years old. No registration is required. KIDS CRAFT Make a silly spoon puppet in celebration of the upcoming "Something on a Stick Day" at the Nappanee Public Library on Saturday, March 8. Seed to Feed to hncl information session GOSHEN Seed to Feed, a program of Church Community Services, provides fresh, local food to Elkhart County area food pantries. Seed to Feed will host a free BBQ dinner and informational program, providing an update from 2013 and explaining the goals for 2014. This event will take place at the Shipshewana Auction Restaurant, 345 S Van Buren St., at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 6. PLAY WITH CLAY AT COPPES Kids of all ages are invited to play with day during a Second Saturday make & take station at Coppes Commons, 401 E. Market St., Nappanee, from 10 a.m. and instructed by Nappanee Library volunteers, the informal workshop will give kids the chance to create their own sculpture to take home as they experiment with air-dry modeling compound and various tools. No registration is needed. WATERCOLORING Artist, Laurie Balia, will guide aspiring painters, age 11 and up, through various watercolor techniques to create a study of a daylily in her painting dass at the library on Thursday, March 13. The dass, held from 6:30 students about watercolor materials, color theory and more. Balia inspires through the use of rich, vibrant color and propels partidpants with words of encouragement and pure delight at their progress. No drawing skills are needed, and all supplies are provided. Registration is suggested.
