Nappanee swimmers headed to divisionals
NAPPANEE WaNee Waves Swim Team has seven of their swimmers going to Indiana Swimming Northeast Divisional Campionships this March. They are Megan Stankovich with seven divisional events, Paige Barrett with six, Kate Jarvis with six, EUe Roberts & Elle Jansen with four, Drew Flickineer with two and Kennedy Hochstetler will compete in one. The WaNee Waves Swim Team is very proud of these swimmers and wishes them good luck during competitions. The next swim conference will be held on Jan. 25 at North Wood High School. WWST has a home Conference meet on January 25th at Northood Highschool.

Mark BeMiller was voted upon to continue as president, while Fred Avery will retain his post as vice-president. The list of department liaisons will remain unchanged from 2013, with Jeff Ziegler assisting the police department, Laurelyn Street working with fire and ambulance, Mark BeMiller aiding the water and wastewater departments, Fred Avery communicating with streets and sidewalks, and Joyce McDowell teaming with parks and recreation. A number of yearly contracts were also renewed, including an interlocal agreement for animal control services with Elkhart County in the amount of $5,000; an ambulance service arrangement with Wakarusa Ambulance Service for $30,000, and a fire protection agreement with Wakarusa Fire Department at a cost of $35,000. Membership dues to the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns was another approved expense, at $l,BBl. A trio of resolutions was launched for 2014, the first of which authorizes clerk-treasurer Joyce Hartman to assume responsibility of paying expenses for the daily operations of Wakarusa. Two more resolutions were passed, each of which designates Keyßank and Interra Credit Union as depositories for the town funds. The next meeting of the Wakarusa Town Council will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4
