WAKARUSA - The Wakarusa Public Library is collecting new toys for needy children in the Wa-Nee community. A 'Toys for Tots" box has been placed in the entryway to accept new toys for toddlers through teenage children in the area. The gifts will be distributed by the Family Christian Development Center on Dec. 14. • Story Hour will meet at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 25 and Nov. 26. The story for this time will involve a group of mice. Registration is required. • Book Bites will be held at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 27 in the children's area. No registration is required. • The Wakarusa Public Library will be closed on Nov. 28 for the observance of Thanksgiving. • "Old Man Rabbit's Thanksgiving Dinner" will be the Dial A Story feature for this week. Are insurance companies allowed to have these kinds of events? A: Medicare Advantage (MA) Plans have to follow specific rules when it comes to marketing, marketing materials, and marketing events. The type of event your facility is hosting probably falls under the category of an Educational Event. Educational Events led by Insurance Companies are designed to inform Medicare beneficiaries about MA Plans, Prescription Drug Plans, or other Medicare Plans. They are not intended to discuss specific insurance plan benefits or to enlist potential enrollees in to any specific health care plan. During these events, insurance companies must adhere to spending limits toward food and promotional products provided, and they may only distribute business cards upon your request.
