There is no charge for the breakfast, but a 'free will' offering will be taken. The Fall Breakfast is an opportunity for the organization to report back to and thank the community that makes its programs and services possible. Local churches, businesses, schools, civic groups and more provide the majority of its financial and in-kind support. Former Army MP still on duty
By Dani Molnar Editor NAPPANEE Jason Meyers chose to join the army in 2006 when the economy went bad. Formerly the owner of a body shop for custom cars, Meyers simply needed and income and decided that serving his country while doing it was a good choice. He served as a drill instructor for the military police. "1 got called out twice, but because I was an instructor, they didn't let me go," Meyers explained. Rather, he would continue training others who would eventually go on to serve in other parts of the world. "Even if I had been deployed, I wouldn't talk about it," Meyers added. "There's no glory in any of itfJexcept that you get to serve your country." "I got to train people to go out and do what they were going to do," Meyers explained. "Sometimes they came back and sometimes they didn't." Meyers worked three years in the guard, and three years active duty as a military police officer for tiie U 5. Army.

By Amy Wenger Advance Correspondent NAPPANEE - Wa-Nee Community Schools is celebrating the recent announcement that two of the district's leaders are in the running for some very distinctive honors. The news was shared among members of the school board during a session held on Monday evening, Oct. 28. The Indiana Association of School Principals has notified the Wa-Nee
administration that David Maugel, North Wood High School principal, and Alan Thompson, principal of Wood view Elementary, have both been nominated for the title of Principal of the Year in their respective fields. Maugel and Thompson were chosen to be among 12 candidates at both the high school and elementary school levels in District 2, which encompasses schools in Elkhart, Fulton, Kosciusko, LaPorte, Marshall, Pulaski, St.
"The only reason I got out was I blew out my right knee," Meyers stated, explaining that he did enjoy the job. As a military police officer, Meyers went into the army hoping to become a cop later in civilian-life. . « "I figured I'd eventually be a cop, but after six years as a military cop, I realized I didn't want tp* be a cop anymore," Meyers said. Instead, Meyers opened his own business: Meyers Insurance Agency LLC in Nappanee. "After being in me service for so long, and being told what to do N and told what to eat, I couldn't be told what to do anymore. It's easier to sit back and work at your own pace," he explained. Of course, he knew he'd never really get away from serving the people. "In the military, I was serving my country and serving people and so I chose a job where I could serve myself but also serve the people," he explained of his company. "When somebody has a loss, you where there. Once you become a servant, you're always a servant." Meyers currently lives in Nappanee with his wife and two kids.

Both gentlemen will be among those heralded at the upcoming lASP Recognition Celebration, as part of the Fall Professional Conference, on Sunday, Nov. 24.
