Holiday crafts program scheduled
GOSHEN - The theme for the Purdue University Elkhart County Extension Service and the Extension Homemakers' annual holiday event is "Creative Holiday Ideas." The program includes recipes, crafts, quick and easy decorations created from items around the house, photo ideas, and more. Committee members planning this event are Jennifer Chupp, Donna Hibschman, Barbara Longcor, Nancy Miller, Kristina Peterson, Mary Ann Zerbe and Extension Educator Mary Ann Lienhart Cross.
Murder with a comedic twist now on stage
NAPPANEE "Arsenic and Old Lace" is a title recognizable to both theatre and movie goers alike. The classic black farce written by Joseph Kesselring will bring murder and hilarity to the Joseph Stein Stage just in time for Halloween. "Arsenic and Old Lace" opened at The Round Bam Theatre on Wednesday, Oct. 23 and continues through Sunday, Nov. 10. , Brewster, a drama critic, whose life is turned upside down when he discovers that his spinster aunts have taken to poisoning their gentlemen house guests and burying the bodies in their old Victorian home. The program will be held from 9-11 a.m. Oct. 26 in the Home & Family Arts Building, located on the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds in Goshen. Community Foundation to discuss grants Plans for giving away recent endowment of $l5O ELKHART, IN - Now entering its 25th anniversary year, the Elkhart County Community Foundation has been on quite a journey the past two years, involving the entire community. Thanks to a $l5O million gift from the estate of Guy David Gundlach, a former EUdiartan and member of the Foundation's Legacy Sodety who died unexpectedly in 2011 at age 56, fire organization has been researching the wisest ways to use that gift. Consequently, the ECCF has spent the past year listening to its many constituendes throughout the county. From not-for-profit organizations to area farmers, Amish bishops to the Hispanic population, teenagers to homeless families at the Faith Mission, senior dtizens to law enforcement offidals, ECCF has listened to what the community wants ECCF to do with this significant gift. Foundation staff have compiled what it learned and is presenting its recommendations to the community, first at its annual meeting held in early October and next at two events open to the community to outline the path the organization will take beginning in 2014 as a result of the Gundlach gift: • Tuesday, Nov. 5 from 4-5 p.m. at the Matterhorn Conference Center, Elkhart. • Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 7 - Bpm at Rieth Redtal Hall, Goshen College, Goshen.
