After a lightning delay, Memorial finally put together their only decent offensive series of the game, driving 94 yards in just nine plays with Troutman going the final 25 to narrow the Panther lead to 30-15 with 6:48 remaining in the game. The Charger defense, inspired by the score, forced a quick North Wood punt but after driving from their own 9 to the Panther 19-y ard line, the crafty Miranda was at it again, picking off a Troutman pass at his own one-yard line with 1:38 remaining and allowing North Wood to run out the clock and seal the muchneeded road win. North Wood piled up a whopping 295 yards on the ground, with Edwards (127 yards), Cleveland (91 yards), and Kirkwood (62 yards) doing nearly all <die damage. Kirkwood attempted just 10 passes on the night, completing four to four different receivers for 36 yards. The Black Crunch defense was paced by six tackles from Jeremiah Hilty and five from Zach Schwartz, who also broke up two long pass attempts and played a stellar game in his first career

Junior Rachel Beebe shot 202 one stroke ahead of her teammates, while freshman Summer Stillson fired a 186 for 83rd place overall in the final match of her debut season with the Panthers. "I had been there before with an individual (Amy Thompson, 2009), but to be able to take an entire team and see six of our kids (we only have seven on the team) be able

to participate on this sort of stage was such a great reward for these kids and their dedication to our golf program and North Wood Athletics." With Morganthaler and Richner returning with the team after a solid ninthplace finish at the East Noble Regional last season, and freshman Stillson joining the lineup, Yoder knew his team could have a special year. The Panthers honed their skills throughout the season with a tournamentheavy schedule that helped prepare them for the post season. "This was our deepest team in these past six years. freshman Summer Stillson gave us some serious firepower at one through three. We've never really had more than two at that level," Yoder said. "Second, our schedule allowed us to play a lot more holes and against more quality competition than other teams in our conference, sectional, and regional. We played as many 18-hole events as some of the elite teams in the state. In fact, I believe the first and second rounds of the State Finals were our 15th and 16th competitive 18-hole rounds since the season started in August." Last weekend's finish was the first time the program had qualified for the state finals in five trips to the regional round of the tournament over the past six sea-

sons. Yoder hopes his team's hard work has helped lay a foundation for future Lady Panthers' squads to reach the benchmark again. "I think we're able to continue to have success because of past successes, first and foremost," said the North Wood boss. "The girls take a lot of pride in building on, or at least repeating whats been done in the past. They are very mindful of previous years' accomplishments and what they did to get themselves there. In addition, our middle school program under coach Randy Lawson has always had really good numbers, and our kids come to the high school with a knowledge base already." North Wood girls golf in general but for Morganthaler and Stankovich in particular after putting in so much time with the program. It was an experience Yoder said he was glad he could share with his senior leaders, and a fitting bookend to their careers at the high school. "These two girls and I will always have a special bond because I think more than the other girls on the team, they had an awareness of how rare this opportunity was and how amazing it was for us to perform the way we did throughout the season while it was happening. They were able to keep everyone focused and grounded throughout, though. Those young ladies are as impressive of lead-

ers as I've been around in 16 years of coaching high school athletics," Yoder said. "It was such a blessing to have gotten to know these kids on a personal level as one tends to when you spend four years together on the same team. I was almost relieved when we finally got to the state finals because I knew they had both gotten exactly what they had deserved for their ending to their senior year. To be able to be a part of them getting that honor and experience is truly one of the favorite all time things I've been able to be a part of in coaching."
