featured just two plays over 10 yards, both of which were completions by quarterback Tanner Love to wideout Jailyn Rolle, the last of which went 15 yards for a score to make it 24-14 Northridge at the half. After the offensive fireworks of the first half, both teams settled into a defensive struggle in the third period, which featured a combined five punts and just one first down. Northridge gradually gained field position in the punting duel, however, and as the fourth quarter began, had moved into North Wood territory on another long completion from Love to Rolle. Finally, just 30 seconds into the final stanza, Schlabach bolted untouched up the middle for three yards to give the Raiders a 31-14 lead. After North Wood could do nothing on offense, punting for the fourth straight time, Northridge put the game out of reach on a threeplay, 52-yard drive that included a 27-yard run by Schlabach, enhanced by a face-mask penalty on the Panthers. Craig Kasten took the pigskin the final three yards for the Raiders, giving them an insurmountable 38-14 lead with just under nine minutes remaining. North Wood had one last drive in them, moving from their own 32 to the Raider 20 yard line but a fourthdown pass from Kirkwood fell incomplete, quashing any Panther hopes of a miracle comeback and starting a series of chants from the Northridge student section, none of whom were bom the last time their school prevailed on the football field against North Wood. The Panthers rushed for a seasonlow 70 yards, led by Kirkwood's 31 on seven carries. Kirkwood attempted a season-high 30 passes, completing 17 for 159 yards and the TD to Sellers, who hauled in a career-high five passes. Sauceda also set a career mark with six catches for 63 yards to lead North Wood. The Black Crunch defense was paced by Derek Weldy with eight tackles, while Travis Bear added seen stops. Northridge finished with 220 yards on the ground, led by 94 yards and two scores from Schlabach and 80 yards from Cam Ridnour. Woolsey and Love combined to go 6 of 7 passing for 105 yards, with Rolle hauling in three passes for 62 yards and the lone Raider score through the air. Lucas Wickey and Ridnour led the Raider defense wists fiVe tackles apiece. North Wood (3-3, 1-3 NLC) remains on the road next week against Elkhart Memorial (2-4,1-3, NLC) in a must-win game to build some desperately-need-ed late-season momentum. Northridge (5-1, 3-1 NL(Jr) travels to Goshen to battle the hapless Redskins, 0-6, 0-4 NLC). • NORTHRIDGE 38, NORTHWOOD 14 At Middlebury North Wood 0 14 0 0 - 14 Northridge: 10 14 0 14 - 38 NR - Hunter Hardin 25 yd.
