OBITUARIES
Mary E. Ludwick May 22, 1932 - Aug. 22, 2013 WAKARUSA Mary E. Ludwick, age 81, of Wakarusa,
died after a six month illness on Thursday, Aug. 22,2013 at 11:03 p.m., at South Bend Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for one week. On the day of her peaceful promotion to Heaven to be with her Savior Jesus Christ forever, she was surrounded by her loving family singing Christian songs. She was bom May 22, 1932 in Nappanee to Marvin and Cora (Gall) Golden. She married Forrest L. Ludwick on Feb. 24, 1950 at the
Wakarusa Missionary Church. Mary and Forrest were faithfully married for 63 years. He survives along with two sons, Bradley Ludwick of Agoura Hills, Calif, and Craig Ludwick of San Diego, Calif.; and a daughter, Tina (Phil) Marsh of Elkhart; four grandchildren, David G. Ludwick of Golden, Colo., Jillian Marsh of Atlanta, Ga., Allison Marsh of Mishawaka and Stephanie Marsh of Elkhart; two sisters, Elsie (Eldon) Mast and Naomi (Rev. Floran) Mast, both of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Orlan, Edward, Arthur and Jacob Golden; and three sisters, Loella Ummel, Sylvia Truex and Bessie Wise. Mary was a member of the Wakarusa Missionary Church. She was also a member of the Progressive Homemakers Club. From musicians to missionaries to large family gatherings, Mary used her gift of hospitality to make all feel comfortable, well fed and at home. She also enjoyed flowers, a small garden, outdoor picnics and her family. Family and friends called from 2-4, 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Wakarusa and one hour prior to services, which were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Wakarusa Missionary Church. Pastor Rob Dauber of the Wakarusa Missionary Church officiated. He was assisted by Rev. Floran Mast, Mary's brother-in-law. Burial is in South Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Wakarusa Missionary Church.

Thomas C. Petersen Dec. 30, 1921 -Aug. 25, 2013 NAPPANEE Thomas C. Petersen, 91, widower of
Dorothy Alice Petersen, entered into rest, at 12:55 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013 at Elkhart General Hospital after a long illness. He was bom in Franklin Park, 111. on Dec. 30, 1921. He was preceded in death by his parents, Axel and Carla (Erickson) Petersen and brothers, Raymond and Stanley Petersen. Survivors include daughters, Katherine (Milton) Becker, McCormick, S.C., Kristine (Bill)
Best, Nappanee; son, Thomas (Connie) Petersea Annapolis, Md., grandchildrea Milton Becker, Kimberly Becker-Greer, Erika Curry, Eric Petersea Kyle Petersen, Stephanie Gibbs; and great-grandchil-dren, Samantha Becker, Victoria Becker-Greer, Whitney Becker-Greer, Grace Becker, Sophie Petersen, Luke Becker, Alexander Curry, and Robert Gibbs. Tom graduated from Leyden High School in Franklin Park, 111. He was a Navy veteran of WW n. He worked as a Journeyman Plasterer in Chicago until his retirement. Following retirement he moved to Nappanee in 1988. He loved his family, good food, tinkering with electronics, golf, and supporting his Chicago sports teams. Following cremation inurnment will be in the Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago, next to his loving wife, Dorothy, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to Nappanee Public Library. DEATH NOTICE April Heather Yoder Aug. 16, 2013 BOURBON April Heather Yoder, 22, died in a car accident Friday, Aug. 16 near Loudonville, Ohio. She is survived by her parents, Steven and Jennifer Yoder of Bourbon; four brothers, Gordon Yoder, Stevie (Heather) Yoder of Goshen, Micah Yoder, and Theodore Yoder; and her seven sisters, Teresa Yoder of Warsaw, Eden (Randall) Mast of Nappanee, Hannah (Matt) Yoder of Harrison, Ark., Heidi (Jaymi) Cross of Middlebury, Brittney Yoder, Brianna Yoder, and Esther Yoder. Visitation was Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fairhaven Mennonite Church. The funeral service was held Friday at 10 a.m. at Fairhaven Mennonite Church, 13513 St Rt 4, Goshen. Burial was held at Woodlawn Mennonite Church Cemetery. Arrangements are with Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.

WAKARUSA Sept. 3at 1 p.m. will be the next meeting of the Wakarusa Friends of the Library. This is a volunteer non-profit group that advocates for the library Anyone is welcome to attend. "BaS Sdhool - BINGO" will be held on Sept. 10 at 3:30 p.m. This After-School activity for students in grades K-5 will include using familiar school items to play the game of BINGO. . . . Prizes will be awarded. Registration is required. The Wakarusa Library Board of Trustees will meet on Sept. 13 at 7:45 a.m. in the library meeting room. The public is welcome to attend. Sept 11 will be the next "Book Bites" program for children ages 3-5 years. This session will be held in the children s area of the library at 10:15 a.m. Participants will hear a story, make a craft or have an activity. No registration is required. Joyce McDowell served the Wakarusa Library Board of Trustees for 16 years. To honor her service "A University of Tradition: The Spirit of Purdue" compiled by the Purdue Reamer Club and "Roots of Home" by Russell Versaci have been given to the library by the Wakarusa Public Library Board.
