CAUCUS SET ELKHART Chairman of the Republican County Committee of Elkhart County and Chairman of a Caucus Dale Shekel has notified all eligible precinct committeemen to a caucus to fill the vacancy in the office of the Elkhart City Council'At Large which has been created by the resignation of Kyle Hannon. The caucus will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3 at the Time Was Museum, 125 N. Main St., Elkhart. The caucus shall establish rules of procedure at the time of the caucus. If unable to appear, a vice-committee-man may vote in place of an applicant if he or she were appointed 30 days prior to the caucus. All persons interested in applying for the Elkhart City Council At Large position must file a declaration of candidacy, Form CEB-5, with the Chairman of the Caucus, at least 72 hours prior to the caucus (before 7 p.m. Dec. 31). ERRA seeking rain barrel artists

ELKHART - The Ejkhart River Restoration Association (ERRA) is seeking artists who would like to create rain barrels for the fifth annual rain barrel auction to be held during the Elkhart River Watershed Celebration, which is scheduled for Goshen's June First Friday Event June 7,2013. Bv Linda Deka Correspondent NAPPANEE - Mahala Miller, the 2012 Nappanee Apple Festival Queen, won the Indiana State Festivals Association Scholarship Pageant in November in Indianapolis. Miller was shocked. "I did not expect to win," she said. "1 felt incredibly grateful that my family and fiance came to support me." After winning the crown for Nappanee's 37th annual Apple Festival Queen, she was automatically entered as a contestant of the ISFA Scholarship Pageant. Contestants for the ISFA Scholarship Pageant are from festivals that are current ISFA members and come from all around the state of Indiana. In the wake of his retirement Sam Beachy was sworn in Jan. 1, 2012, to fill Miller's seat representing the city's Third District. Miller has served the city of Nappanee for more than different police chiefs and three separate mayors.
