Local FA members receive national honor

INDIANAPOLIS Each year, the National FA Organization is proud to honor the FA members who show the utmost dedication to the organization through their desire to develop their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. That honor, the American FA Degree, Is bestowed up on a select group of individuals for years of academic and professional excellence. Tun Nelson and Jason Ringer FA members representing the Bremen FA Chapter in Indiana was selected to join that exclusive list and was awarded the American FA Degree at the 85th National FA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis. The convention is known as the largest student gathering in the United States and will occur Oct. 24-27. The American FA Degree is sponsored by Case IH, Farm Credit, Elanco, DuPont Pioneer and Syngenta as a spedal project of the National FA Foundation. It recognizes

Quitters to meet "The Artful Quilters," a guild for those interested in new quilting techniques, meets on the seconded Thursday of each month at the Nappanee Public Library. Members will meet at the library next Dec. 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Membership for the "Artful Quilters" is open to anyone. Join the fun and fellowship with other quilters while keeping up to date with new activities and techniques in the quilting world. Bring projects to share; check out planned programs for the coming year; and sign up for trips. Yearly dues are sls and are used for the benefit of the guild. Those interested may attend two meetings to get acquainted before becoming members. American Girls meetings set Create an old-fashioned, tin-punched Christmas ornament at the next meeting of the American Girls dub at the Nappanee Public Library. Girls in grades 1 and 2 will meet Monday, Dec. 17, and those in grades 3 through 5 will meet Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012 7 to 8 p.m. to learn more about Kirsten and her pioneer Christmas. The American Girls Club meets once a month at the library during the school year to learn about girls in American history and share other activities such as tea parties, sleepovers, and community service projects. To be eligible, FA members must have earned and productively Invested $7,500 through a supervised agricultural experience program in which they start, own or hold a professional position in an existing agriculture enterpnse. Recipients must also complete 50 community service hours, as well as demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities and community involvement. Each recipient of the American FA Degree received a gold American FA Degree Key plus a certificate after being on-stage during the convention. The National FA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 540,379 student members in grades seven through 12 who belong to one of 7,489 local FA chapters throughout the US., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The
