NAPPANEE, — The Nappanee Public Library held its annual appreciation event for volunteers Thursday, Aug. 9. More than 80 guests attended the luncheon at the library, which honored the many volunteers who have helped provide services and programs during the past year. Since August 2011, around 150 Library volunteers worked more than 5,000 hours shelving books, preparing new materials for circulation, helping with programs and j special projects, tutoring, assembling mailings, staffing the Evelyn Lehman Culp Heritage Center and assisting with | many other jobs. Library director, Lissa Krull, explains that this translates into the hours of more than two full-time i positions. "The work our volunteers do allows our staff to focus Fishing turnout a ‘big one’ NAPPANEE The VVa-Nee Chapter of Ducks Unlimited and the Nappanee Parks and Recreation Department held its third Annual Fishing Derby Sept. 8 at McCormick Creek Golf Course. There were 50 entrants for the three sessions that were held. The 9 a m. session saw Tyler Bowman edge out Tyler Tusing 66" to 62 3 4" in total length of fish caught. The 10 a m. session had Lexy Myers winning with 54" of fish and Hannah Yoder finishing in second place with 41" of fish. KJoe Miller caught 24" of fish to win the 11 a.m. session, while Luke Lehman caught 19" of fish as the second place finisher. All winners and runner-ups received trophies. Tyler Bowman was the overall winner and received a rod and reel. Immediately following the fishing sessions, Officer Mark Hines of the Department of Natural Resources presented rules, regulations and safety tips for those in attendance. New Extension Educator for Elkhart County 4-H

GOSHEN - Mary Ann Lienhart Cross, Director of the Purdue Extension Elkhart County office introduced Robert Kelly as the county's newest Extension Educator. Kelly's position entails working with the livestock division of 4-H Youth Development and Agriculture and Natural Resources. Kelly grew up in southwestern Ohio on a small fam

ily farm involving hay and livestock production. During his 10-year 4-H career he showed swine, beef cattle and meat goats and is a past FFA member. He also volunteered as 4-H club advisor in his home county of Clermont, Ohio. Kelly earned his degrees from Morehead State University in Kentucky, a Bachelor's of Science with a concentration in Animal Science and a Master's of Science in Career and Technical Education in Agriculture. Kelly was a member of the Collegiate Livestock Judging Team, served as president of his fraternity, Theta Chi, and a Collegiate FFA Officer. Kelly is on the job and eager to work with Elkhart County's youth and adults in the area of livestock production. Driver cited after causing crash ELKHART A Nappanee man was cited for causing a crash late Friday afternoon in Elkhart. Adam Blosset 32, was driving a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer south on S.R. 19 at C.R. 26 at 4:38 p.m. in the inside lane when he attempted to turn right onto C.R. 26. Not seeing 30-year-old Kathryn Sonner driving a 2007 Toyota Yaris in the righthand lane, Blosser turned in front of her causing a collision that resulted in Sonner being transported by Concord EMS to Elkhart General Hospital for non-incapacitating back pain and seat belt bum to her left shoulder. Blosser was cited for unsafe lane movement. ARRESTS • Dustin E. Pruitt, 21, Nappanee, was arrested Sept. 15 by the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department for driving while suspended. • Shannon K. Hall, 34, was arrested Sept. 17 by the Elkhart Police Department two counts of driving while suspended, nonsupport of a dependent and two counts of having no operator's license. • John I. Borkholder, 29, Nappanee, was arrested Sept. 18 by the Marshall County Sheriff's Department for failure to appear and probation violation. • April A.
