By Angel Perkins Edtto* NAPPANEE Clients (and potential clients) of State Fann not only nave a new location to visit but also a new friendly face to meet in Nappanee. Sylvia Benjamin is the agent in charge of the business now located at 173 N. Miriam St. where four team members can assist with getting those interested in State Farm services on the right track. Benjamin lives in Wakarusa and she and her husband Scott have been married for 15 years. They have two children, Alaina, 13; and Isaac, 9. Benjamin can offer clients not only auto, home, life, and health insurance, but can also assist with a wide array of financial services such as investments, CDs, IRAs and college funds. "We are always available to our clients any time of the day or night," answered Benjamin with a laugh after being asked if State Farm's response time was as fast as it is presented on its commercials. "Like a good neighbor, State Farm really is there for you, as they say, it's just not as fast." She said the agency is currently number one in claims in the Midwest but tnat agents will be sent directly to the claim site anywhere in the country. "We'll handle it all for

you, A to Z," she said of the business' services. "And customers can even trade their claim online at State Farm.com." It was this reputable service that led Benjamin to train with State Farm. "State Farm is headquartered in Bloomington, 111," she explained. "It's been 90 years in the business. This agency, as a whole, has 70 years of insurance and customer service experience. I've chosen to hire a more seasoned staff to meet my clients' needs." Benjamin wasn't always a registered State Farm agent, at 25 she served her country during Desert Storm. Of her insurance history she explained: "I started in a GM dealership and then was a sales director for six years selling insurance to dealerships." She also worked at Chase Bank for three years and then came to work for State Farm, in Nappanee. The former agent was Ernie Crilow who had an office on Clark Street. He retired after 42 years in the business. What is one of the biggest mistakes people make when it comes to purchasing insurance? Benjamin answered, "It's that they're undereducated about insurance." "Everyone knows about life insurance, car insurance or fire or home insurance," she explained, "but the biggest mistake is not purchasing it when they're young. They
