DIVORCE CARE TO MEET AUG. 22 NAPPANEE - Nappanee Missionary Church is offering Divorce Care beginning Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. The class will meet each Wednesday evening for approximately 13 weeks. Participants may join the group at any time during the program. There is no cost, and child care is available. Anyone that has experienced the pain of separation and divorce is encouraged to attend. Divorce 1 Care focuses on the biblical approach to divorce, separation and related issues. Bike Rodeo winners DAT photo The combined efforts of the Nappanee Rotary Club, Safe Kids Elkhart County and the police departments from Nappanee and Wakarusa held a bike rodeo last Saturday (Aug. 11) at Coppes Commons. The participants traversed a course on the parking lot, while being judged on various biking skills categories: signaling for stops and turns; balance and bicycle control, braking and overall bike handling confidence. The rodeo had two classes: preschool/first grade and second grade through fifth. Trophies were given to the two winners and all participants received ribbons. Many other prizes were awarded with a free bike drawing (donated by Burlington Bike Shop) at the end of the event. Brunstetter is touring the Northern Indiana Southern Michigan area promoting her latest novel, 'The Struggle." Light of Grace Book and Gift Store in Nappanee will host a book signing by the nationally-recognized author from 10 a.m. to noon. Saturday, Aug. 18. In "The Struggle," an Amish family faces challenges after moving from Pennsylvania to Kentucky and looks to God to help them with their grief and struggles. Another of her titles, Brunstetter's "The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Gub" will be premiering onstage at Blue Gate Theater in Shipshewana Aug. 25.
