OWUAIWS Ruth E. Harbaugh May 18, 2012 HASTINGS, Mich. Ruth E. Harbaugh of Hastings
Midi., 81, passed away May 18,2012 after a brief battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents. Fred and Tribla Speicher of Nappanee. She wilj be lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years; Weldon; her daughter, Rebecca (Michael) Seaben; and son, David Harbaugh.
Ruth graduated from Nappanee High School, then Indiana School of Business. Sne was on the administrative staff at Mercywood Psychiatric Hospital of the St. Joseph Medical Center, Ann Arbor, Mich, and retired in 1992. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary and participated in volunteer work most of her life. She always had a smile on her face, and treated others with kindness, humor and compassion. Ruth loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed travel, shopping, cooking and sewing as well as a nice glass of wine. She had a fondness for animals, especially dogs. According to her wishes cremation has taken place, and a private service will take place at a later date. Cards and notes may be sent to P.O. Box #3l Hastings, MI 49058. Seymour May 24, 2012 NAPPANEE Eleanor B. Seymour, 97, of Walnut Street, Nappanee, died peacefully in her home of natural causes
Thursday, May 24, 2012. She was bom October 28, 1914 in Valparaiso, to Hale and Carolyn Lembke Crisman. On April 12,1936 in Valparaiso, she married Hershel Seymour. He preceded in death March 20, 2006. Mr. and Mrs. Seymour moved to Nappanee in 19% after living in Hunker, Penn, for 52 years. Mrs. Seymour was a homemaker. She
was a longtime member of United Methodist Churches in Valparaiso, New Stanton, Penn., and Nappanee. It is difficult to express how devoted she was to her work in the church and to our Lord. She loved that work and served in many capacities over the years. She especially enjoyed singing in the church choirs, directing the choir and playing the organ in New Stanton for many years. Eleanor also had a heart for missions. She supported many charitable organizations and ministered to those in need around her. Eleanor dedicated her life to service in the church. She also loved to cook. Eleanor organized a local senior citizens luncheon each month in New Stanton for several years before their move to Nappanee. Mrs. Seymour is survived by daughters, Karen Seymour, Kokomo, Gail Wing, Nappanee, Lois (Clair) Rader, Aliquippa, Penn., a daughter-in-law, Elaine Seymour, Arlington, Va., 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and sisters, Margaret Makovsky, Ft. Myers, Fla., Martha Ashton, Valparaiso, and Jean (David) Willis, Greenfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, John E. Seymour, a great grandson, Benjamin Shallenberger, and a brother, Everett Crisman. Family and friends may call from 5-8 Friday, June 1, at Thompson-Lengacher & Voder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, June 2 at Nappanee United Methodist Church. Rev. Linda Craig will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bourbon. Kuhns, 86, of Nappanee, died at 9:20 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Miller's Merry Manor after an extended Illness. He is survived by his wife, Patsy; sisters, Leona (Marvin) Stutzman, Nappanee, Fannie Mae (Ralph) Stichter, Wakarusa, and brothers, Meno (Esther) Kuhns, Wisconsin, and Bill (Carol) Kuhns, Elkhart. Visitation was Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at ThompsonLengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services followed at 11 a.m., and burial was in Union Center Cemetery. Elkhart County Sheriff’s Depart, pays its respects ELKHART The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department paid its respects to fellow employee and friend "Milt" Milton T. Montandon who passed away last Thursday, May 17 following a brief illness. Serving more than 34 years with the sheriff'sdepartment, Milton’s career began with April 3, 1978 as a jail officer. Assuming patrol duties in December 1978, he spent nearly 24 years in patrol and served ranks as a Patrolman, Corporal and a Sergeant. In 2002, he retired as a Merit deputy and continued serving the county as a Civil Process Server. Prior to Milton's service with the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, Milton served his country in the First Infantry Division with the U S. Army in Vietnam. He was also a reserve officer with the Elkhart City Police Department. Milton's tradition to serving the community is survived by his son Andrew Montandon who has been a Correctional Officer with the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department for nearly 22 years. Services for Milton T. Montandon were held at the Billings Funeral Home, in Elkhart. In recognition and in honor of Milton T. Montandon's service to Elkhart County, the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department's law enforcement center temporarily dosed its building and the Elkhart County Correctional fadlity, cancelled all public and professional visitations to its fadlity.
