Kathryn Amanda Flickinger Nov. 28, 1915 Dec. 30, 2011
WAKARUSA Kathryn Amanda Flickinger, Wakarusa, 96, died at 4 am. Friday, Dec. 30, 2011 at Valley View Nursing Home, where she had lived for the past 10 years. She was bom Nov. 28, 1915 in Milford to William W. and Sadie (Cassel) Weaver. March 28, 1937 in Elkhart, she married Charles C. Flickinger and he died Feb. 14,1978. Surviving are daughters, Donna I (Donald) Siebert, Goshen and Sally
(Jack) Hess, Syracuse; son. Max (Beth) Flickinger, Wakarusa; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband; son, Rex Flickinger; four brothers: Calvin, Dewey, Orrin and Elmer Weaver; sister, Opal Anglemyer; two infant sisters, Freeda and Glennis; and a grandson, Thomas Flickinger. Kathryn worked at Stahly Meat Market, retiring in 1980 and was a member of the North Main Street Mennonite Church, Nappanee. Visitation was 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa, where the service was at 11 a.m. Tuesday,'Jan. 3, 2011. Pastor Ruben Chupp of North Main Street Mennonite Church officiated and burial is in Olive (West) Cemetery. (Norman) Borkholder, both of Bremen, and Esther E. (Dale R.) Borkholder, New Paris; 59 grandchildren; 30 great-grand-children; brothers: Melvin (Esther) Hochstetler, Pnnceton, Ky., Elmer (Mary) Hochstetler, Bellefontaine, Ohio, Jonas Hochstetler, Bremen, Edward (Katie) Hochstetler, Danville, Ohio, Edwin (Emma) Hochstetler, Howard, Ohio, Levi (Betty) Hochstetler Jr., Goshen, Rudy (Carol) Hochstetler, Milford, Lamar (Lizzie) Hochstetler, Moses Lee Hochstetler, both of Nappanee, and Ray Hochstetler, Butler, Ohio; and sisters: Lydia Mae Stoltzfus, Howard, Ohio, Mary (Ura) Chupp, and Esther (Lester) Helmuth, both of Nappanee. Visitation was after 2 p.m. Friday and all day Saturday at the family residence, where funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m., Sunday, Burial, is jn Weldy Cemetery. Kaden Eugene Kemp weighed 9 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 20.5 inches long. POLICE NOTES 7 INCIDENTS Youth taken into custody for thefts NAPPANEE Five juveniles were arrested and released to their parents after law enforcement investigated suspicious activity. Nappanee Police Joshua Hamer, while on patrol Dec. 18 at 2:30 a.m. saw a vehicle in the 800 block of East Walnut Street with its door ajar. As he approached the vehicle, several individuals fled the are. Police caught up with one, a juvenile, and after further investigation, four young men were arrested and released to their parents. An 18 year old male subject was spoken to and an investigation continues. Paperwork will be forwarded to the prosecutor for further review on more charges. The past couple months the Nappanee Police Dept, has had an increase in thefts and burglaries within the city. Last month, arrests were made on nine business burglaries. The police department requests that' citizens report any suspicious activity. ARRESTS • Frank R. Hoffer, 24, Nappanee, was arrested Dec. 23 by the Elkhart Police Department for operating while intoxicated and possession of marijuana or hashish. • Brandon L. Bickel, 27, Nappanee, was arrested Dec. 24 by the Nappanee Police Department for operating while intoxicated. • Robert B. Howard, 48, Nappanee, was arrested Dec. 24 by the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department for operating while intoxicated with a prior. • Mark A Shipley, 33, Nappanee, was arrested Dec. 24 by the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department for operating while intoxicated and operating with a blood alcohol level of .08 percent or more. • Ashley D. Pruitt, 19, Nappanee, was arrested Dec. 25 by the Elkhart Police Department for theft.

The employee was instead from the CVS store on Nappanee Street in Elkhart. We regret the error and apologize for any confusion this may have caused. Elkhart County and school corporation seats to be voted on GOSHEN The Elkhart County Election Board will be accepting major party candidate declarations for the 21012 primary election beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11. The deadline to file is at noon, Friday, Feb. 10. All filings should take place at the Circuit Court Clerk's office in the
courthouse in Goshen (101 N. Main St., Room 204) and as it is a secure building, security must be passed. County offices that will appear on the 2012 primary election ballot include: Elkhart County Treasurer, Elkhart County Coroner, Elkhart County Surveyor, Elkhart County Commissioner for District 2, Elkhart County Commissioner for District 3, County Council at-large (three seats), Republican Party Precinct Committeeman, and State Convention Delegates (Republican and Democrat). Beginning in 2012, school board offices will be elected through general election. Filing dates for school board candidates is July 25 through noon Aug. 24. In November 2012, the following school board offices and seats will be on the election ballot: Baugo Community Schools (Districts I and II), Concord Community Schools (Districts I and II), Elkhart Community Schools (Districts A, Q D, and atlarge), Fairfield Community Schools (Districts I and HI and at-large), Goshen Community Schools (Districts II and IV and at-large), Middlebury Community Schools (Districts B and C) and Wa-Nee Community Schools (Olive Township, Scott-Jefferson Township and at-large).
