TOWN MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION Nature of Work This position ie responsible for leadership work as the administrative head of the town of Culver. The town manager ft under the direction of the town council and works closely with the town clerk. Performance must be in accordance with Indiana statutes and the town council's initiatives. -Maintains the administrative organization of the town to ensure efficiency of operation: •Coordinates work among the supervisors of each department: street department, sewer department, fire department, the town park, the police department, and EMS. •involved xi the hiring, evaluating, promoting, and disciplining of employees or in establishing procedures lor others to follow in such matters. •Sets attainable goals for all departments and ensures performance reviews are conducted on an annual basis. •Assists all departments in maintenance schedule of buildings and equipment. -Carrtee out directives and work approved by the town council: •Researches and prepares federal and state grant requests and oversees the administration of grant programs. •Communicates with citizens, business owners, and employees to resolve issues •Oversees active protects that include infrastructure initiatives, vendor relationships, work with engineera/contractors, and so on •Initiates and assists the town counci to develop, update, and execute long-range strategic plans: •Makes recommendations to the town council with regard to economic development, and any projects related to established goals, including sources of funding the same •Identifies service and pokey needs and brings to the attention of the town council recommendations for action. -Maintains a sound public relations posture between the town of Culver and its citizens, the press, and other federal, state, and local governmental agencies. •Researches and compiles information about grants. Recommends to the council what grants are appropriate for Culver. •Maintains contact with the public by handling suggestions, complaints, and information requests. •Acts as purchasing agent for all departments and oversees the bid process on major purchases.
