What can Brown do for you? Just win. baby

By Stevk Srmjut Correspondent NAPPANEE of legendary Oakland Raider coach/ A 1 Davis, whose motto of "Just win, pwy* epitomized finding a way to get the job done however possible, die North Wood Panthers turned to senior Coy Brown on both offense and defense and the Bowling Green recruit came through with an epic performance to lead die Panthers over the Plymouth Rockies 21-8 on Senior Night Brown rushed for 136 yards and two IDs, inducting die go-ahead score cm the first series of die second half, and led die Black Crunch defense with a season-high 16 tackles as North Wood finished die regular season with a record erf 6-3, the best showing since 2008. Sporting pink socks in support of breast cancer awareness, the Panthers looked sluggish at the start, turning the ball over on downs in their first series and then allowing the Rockies to drive 61 yards in 13 plays (all runs) with quarterback Ike Kastner taking it the final 2 yards for the score. Kastner then found 6'9" sophomore Mack Mercer who made a leaping one-handed catch for the two point conversion to put Plymouth in front 8-0. After an exchange of punts, North Wood managed to get on the board thanks primarily to a 52-yard run by Brown that put die ball at the Rodae 12-yard line. Five plays later, Brown bulled in from five yards out and Brendan Widner's PAT kick pulled the Panthers to within a point at 8-7, where the score remained to the half. In the third quarter, after forcing a three-and-out cm Plymouth's first possession, North Wood took over near midfield and turned the game over to Brown, who picked up 49 yards on seven straight carries, the final two a short burst around left end to give die Panthers the lead at 14-7 after Widner's PAT. The Black Crunch defense, ranked fifth in the state in Gass 4A in scoring defense,

then took oven stuffing Plymouth cm fourth-and-two at die Rodae 38-yard line, but the Panthers could not take advantage when a 43-yard field goal attempt by Widner was short and right Not to worry, however as die defense rose up again on die next series when North Wood free safety Brayden Iboxd intercepted a Kastner pass and returned it 27 yards to die Plymouth 13-yard line. Three (days later, Panther quarterback Zac Coleman powered to paydirt on a two-yard sneak and North Wood took a 21-8 lead with 9:30 remaining in die game. Brown was the hero again on the next defensive series fat North Wood, sacking Kastner near midfield and forcing a punt but the Panthers gave the ball right back at their own 30-yard line on a highly-question-able fumble call that was hody protested by the North Wood coaching staff. After allowing Plymouth to pick up a first down, the Black Crunch held again, stuffing Kastner for no gain cm fourth and one at die 11-yard line. Brown and Coleman then took turns carrying the pigskin, picking up two first downs and running out the dock to seal die win. North Wood rushed for 208 yards, led by Brown's 136 and two TDs on 17 carries. Andrew Hahn added 35 yards and Coleman chipped in with 29 yards and a scene. The Panmers did not pick up a single yard through the air, as Coleman attempted just three passes. Brown's 16 tackles inducting a sack led die way for the Panther defense, while Albert Gongwer had his third straight spectacular game with nine tackles. Justice Smith added eight stops for North Wood and Ethan Killian had five tackles inducting a sack. The vaunted Plymouth running game managed just 122 yards and it took 50 carries to get there. Junior Jordan Knapp led the way for the Rockies with 75 yards, while Sam Stevens and Cole Mann added 29 yards each. Kastner completed 5 of 11 passes for 30 yards. The Plymouth defense was paced by seven tackles from Trenton Briles and six from Knapp.
