Waterhemp is a weed to look out foe. As you harvest this fall, take special care to note pockets in your fields when waterhemp is growing, so that control measures can be amplified in those areas next spring. In my opinion there is no better time than late summer and early fall for returning to cooking with fresh, locally grown produce. This year was a challenge for tomatoes but I will be honest and say I have had more than one tomato, bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich. That was not a double word or typo in the sentence. I try to put several tomatoes on the sandwich and then I don't feel as guilty about eating the bacon. From our small garden and what I have seen at the local produce stands this has been a good year for peppers.
