Panthers capture sectional baseball crown

SOUTH WHITLEY - Junior Nate Wagner homered, drove in three runs, and scored a pair to back up a solid pitching effort from Tanner Roberts and Derek Yoder as the North Wood’ Panther baseball team captured the Gass 3A Sectional 21 championship with an 8-4 win over Columbia City. Roberts added a pair of hits to help his own cause, and freshman Will Kirkwood scored two runs to help give North Wood their first title in baseball since 2007. The crown was also the first for Panther rookie head coach Zach Benko.
