Nellie M. Evashenko May 11, 2011 WAKARUSA - Nellie M. Evashenko, 95, of Wakarusa, formerly of Eugene, Ore., died unexpectedly at 11:44 ajn, Wednesday, May 11,2011 at her home, of natural causes. She is survived by a daughter; Joy (Willard N.) Slabaugh, Wakarusa; son, Philip D. (Debra) Evashenko, Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Visitation took place from 4 to 8 pjn. Saturday, May 14 at Thompson-Lengacher 4c Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and for one hour prior to services Sunday at the the church. Funeral services took place at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15 at North Main Street Mennonite Church. Burial followed in Rest Haven Memorial Park in Eugene at a later date. Henschen May 11, 2011 WAKARUSA —Virgil D. Henschen, 98, of Wakarusa, died at 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at his residence, of natural causes. He is survived by his wife, Bessie; children, Sandra (Jim) Loucks of Nappanee, Gene (Carol) Henschen of Nappanee, and Karen (Bill) Jessup of Goshen; a stepdaughter, Linda (Phil) Nusbaum of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and at three stepgreat-grandchildren. Visitation took from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 14 at foe Bible Baptist Church in Wakarusa and one hour prior to services Sunday at foe church. Funeral services took place at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15 at foe church. Burial followed in Olive West Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Bible Baptist Church. He is survived by his son, Douglas (Victoria) Hochstetler, Ariz.; and a granddaughter. Visitation took place from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 15 at Thompson-Lengacher k Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services took place at 10 a.m., Monday, May 16, at foe funeral home. Burial took place at be South Union Cemetery with military graveside services by Nappanee American Legion. Richard ‘Dean’ Middaugh July 10,1931 May 9, 2011 NAPPANEE Richard 'Dean' Middaugh, age 79, of Nappanee, died at 7:21 pan., Monday, May 9, 2011 at IU
Goshen Health. He was bom July 10, 1931 in Lodce Township to Floyd and Ruth Balsley Middaugh. He married Shirley Sufoeimer July 9,1954. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters: Kim (Dave) Jensen and Michelle (Jeff) Killian, both of Nappanee and Dawn (Mike) Peterson, Bristol; five grandchildren; and a sister, Margie Galley, South Bend. Friends called Saturday from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher 4c Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Inurnment took place at South Union with military graveside services by foe Nappanee American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to foe Nappanee Park Dept. Middaugh was a 1949 graduate of Nappanee High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp in foe Korean Conflict. He served as a police officer for the Gty of Nappanee from 1956 to 1976. He served as Chief of Police for 11 years. After his retirement he worked at Fairmont Homes and Nappanee Wood Products . He was a member of foe Indiana Chief of Police Association and had served as treasurer. He was a member of Nappanee American Legion #154 and foe former Nappanee VFW #6638. He was active in St. John's Lutheran Church.

NAPANEE Martin's Super Markets president and CEO Rob Bartels have announced foe recipients of foe company's 2011 scholarship program awards. The NorfoWood High School recipient of foe award is Jeremy Wilmot of Nappanee. The recipients of the Martin's awards are either employees or employee's dependents, and they receive SI,OOO to 2,000. The annual awards are based on academic records, test scores and extracurricular activities.
North Wood High School named as a Top 10’ NorfoWood High School was named one of foe Top 10 overall scores at foe area Academic Super Bowl competition at Northridge High School April 19. For foe third year, special recognition is being given to foe Top 10 teams in each enrollment class, based on foe cumulative scores of all six rounds at the area competition. This award does not affect participation in foe state finals, which was held May 7, at Purdue University. This is foe third year that this award has been given and foe third year that NorfoWood has earned this recognition.
