Seven vie for Miss Apple Blossom scholarships
Seven contestants will compete for Miss Apple Blossom during the 35th annual Nappanee Apple Festival Scholarship Pageant on Thursday, Sept.l6, at 7 p.m. in die NIPSCO Entertainment Tent at die Depot Plaza. The newly crowned Miss Apple Blossom Queen will receive a SI,OOO scholarship. The first runner-up receives a $750 scholarship and the second runner-up receives a SSOO scholarship. Contestants will be judged on stage presence, interview, essay and biographical information. The judges will also be looking for a contestant who will: Provide a bridge between youth and the Nappanee business community; Be a positive role model for Nappanee’s youth; Represent Nappanee throughout Elkhart Country in a positive manner; Be an ambassador for the Apple Festival; Possess a high level of communications and public speaking capabilities. Drive one 4 John Glenn HS BREMEN Bremen Ford and John Glenn High School are partnering to raise money in support of John Glenn High School as part of the Drive One 4 UR School program. Members of the Walkerton community will have the opportunity to raise money for the school by test driving a Ford vehicle. The Ford Motor Company and Bremen Ford will donate S2O to John Glenn High School for every person from a individual household who test drives a 2011 Taurus, Fusion, Fiesta, or Mustang. The organization will be using the proceeds to help fund their athletic department. The one-day event takes place Saturday, Aug. 28 in the parking lot of John Glenn High School from 9 a.m. tp 5 p.m. Each test drive will last approximately five minutej.
