porch of the Weaver home, where visitors can enjoy a quiet respite from daily routine. ABOVE: The potting shed at the home of the Ken Walter family, 438 Hickory Lane, Nappanee, provides even more garden drama. a
landscape specimens come from Melissa's grandparents' farm. Of particular interest is a miniature potting shed with miniature plants. This family enjoys die simple pleasures of gardening and benefit from the gathered produce. The well tended geraniums, surrounding the porch of the Weaver house, grace visitors' steps into die three-story historical home. Visitors will be fascinated with the 18 rooms, eight bedrooms, tooled leather wallpaper, Honduras mahogany and oak woodwork, and pocket doors. In 1910 Albert Mutschler (Mutschler Kitchens) hired architect Henry Frazier to design this stately home in a combination of the Colonial Revival and Prairie School architectural styles. It is said that Albert would stand in his master bedroom, gaze across the bricked streets, and observe his woodworking factory a few blocks south. Imagine life as it was a century ago while you stroll through this timeless treasure. The Nappanee Home & Garden Club extends a personal invitation into die gardens and home of this year's participants. Feel free to leisurely wander, ask questions, and above a 11... delight in the "Charm of Simple Things."
