Extension Homemakers honor achievements

Quilts and Comforters Tell the Stay of Our Lives" was the theme of the annual Achievement Night , for Elkhart County Extension Homemakers, May 10. The evening took place in the Elkhart County Community Center cm the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds, Goshen. Susan Cook, Elkhart, of Jim town Gems Extension Homemaker Club, served as chairperson of the committee and welcomed guests. Eleanor Kinney, Goshen, Modem Homemakers, led the Pledge of Allegiance and Club Creed, ana Jeannine Martin, Elkhart, of Happy Hoosiers, said the invocation. Pat Hochstedler, Goshen, Bound-4-Knowledge Homemakers, provided the evening's entertainment with “Quilt Stories." The newly elected county officers for me 2010-2011 duo year were installed by Ramona Huber, Goshen, lEHA Michigan City District representative. They are president, Susan Cook; vice president, Lisa Honey, Goshen; secretary, Sally Kyle, Goshen; treasurer, Debra George, Wakarusa; assistant treasurer, Debra Pepple, Elkhart; and advisor, Joan Bailey, Goshen. The Outstanding Clubs of the Year were recognized and presented certificates. This year, 21 dubs partidpated in the recognition system. The traveling gavel was presented to the Club of the Year, Clinton Clique Homemakers president Mabel Wortinger, Goshen. A special plaque with the dub's name hangs in the Home and Family Arts Building. Homemakers of Today president Tena Jakubowicz of Middlebury accepted the Gold Award on behalf of her club. The winner in the Senior category was Nancy Miller, a 41-year member of the Elkhart County Extension Homemakers. Nancy attends Home k Family Conference each year and loves attending district meetings.
