James D. Loe May 8, 2010 PLYMOUTH James D. Loe, 78, of Plymouth, died Saturday, May 8,2010 at his home. Visitation took place from 1 to 3 pm. Tuesday, May 11 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Funeral services took place at 3 pm. Main St. The clear-glass base, with colorful molten glass images created inside, was selected as the best representation of this year's theme for the event "Art Beyond Borders." Self-defense course for women starts May 11 ELKHART - A course in defensive tactics for women will be taught at the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department starting May 11. From 6 to 9 p.m. on four nights, Detectives Norma Alber and Travis Adamson will instruct students both in classroom and gymnasium settings. The classes will be taught at the new Elkhart County law enforcement center, 26861 C.R. 26, Elkhart. Attendance is necessary on all four nights May 11,13,18 and 20. Leroy Keyes is speaker today
Purdue Alumni Club of Elkhart County announces its 10th annual meeting today, May 13, at Elcona Country Club, Bristol. Leroy Keyes, assistant director of the John Purdue Club, will be the keynote speaker. Keyes was an outstanding running back and defensive back for the Boilermakers from 1966 to 1968. Keyes was voted Purdue's AllTune Greatest Football Player in 1987 in connection with the Boilermakers' football centennial anniversary. He also was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1990.
