Aug. 15,1928 March 18, 2010 NAPPANEE or Richard Lee Herman, 81, of Nappanee, died at 11:47 aJ». Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Elkhart
General Hospital, Elkhart, after an extended illness. He was bom Aug. 15, 1928 in Kosciusko County to Seward W. and Bernice (Irvine) Harman. He graduated Atwood High School and married Lorene Grimm May 24,1946 in Bremen. Richard was a former, and truck driver for Ag Trucking, Goshen, and for Mutschler Kitchens and was a member of the First Brethren Church, Nappanee.
He is survived by his wife Lorene; a daughter, Sonya (Richard) Nash of Granger; sons, Larry (Cindy) Harman of Elkhart, and Gail (Denise) Hannan of Nappanee; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Theodore "Ted" (Marilyn) Hannan of Lexington, Mass., and Leßoy (Carol) Harman of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Chearyl (Max) Miller of Warsaw; and a half-sister, Judith (Ray) Miller of Etna Green. He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Harman. Visitation took place from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 22 at the Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee. Funeral services took place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 22 at the funeral home with Rev. Tom Scheifer of the First Brethren Church, Nappanee officiating. Burial followed at South Union Cemetery. George Clemans July 26, 1946 March 12, 2010 NAPPANEE George Clemans, 63, of Nappanee, passed away Friday, March 12,2010 at the Elkhart General Hospital.
He was bom July 26,1946 in Warsaw, to George and Vema (Moore) Clemans. May 1, 1971 he married Christine Keyser; she survives. George was a U.S. Army Veteran, truck driver and member of the NRA. Survivors include wife Christine Clemans of Nappanee; two daughters, Nikki (Jeroen) Clemans of Silvolde, Netherlands and Heather Clemans of Nappanee; a son Geoff (Shirley)
Clemans; a grandson Grant; a granddaughter Brittany; one granddaughter on the way, Nora; and a sister, Linda Holmes of Bourbon. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Marty. Visitation from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 14 at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, March 15 at the funeral home, and will be officiated by Pastor Gary Hinkle. Burial followed at the Bremen Cemetery with graveside military services. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Everett J. Rummel March 16, 2010 GOSHEN Everett J. Rummel, 86, of Goshen, died Tuesday, March 16,2010 at Goshen General Hospital. He is survived by his wife Laura; a son, David Rummel of Goshen; daughters: Cindy Stark of Elkhart, Sharee Lynch of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Kim Thomas of Fresno, Calif.; six grandchildren; a sister, Bemiece Rummel of South Bend; and sister-in-laws, Dorothy Rummel of South Bend and Eleanor Rummel of Nappanee. Visitation took place from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 18 and one hour prior to services Friday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee. Funeral services took place at 11 a.m. Friday, March 19 at the funeral home. Burial followed at Union Center Cemetery. Super Science Saturday at library Kids will be blown away by the experiments at the next Super Science Saturday Club at 10 a.m., March 27, at the library, when young scientists will meet to explore the properties of wind power. The program for children in grades one through five is led by Jim Myers and meets monthly at the library during the school year. Space is limited and registration is required by calling 574-773-7919. GED program is free for limited time For a limited time, the Learning Generation Initiative and Work One are offering a GED preparation program free of charge to qualified students at the library. In addition, the fee for taking the GED exam is being waived for those who enroll now. In this unique program, held weekly at the library, students can study at their own pace online, reach individual goals with the help of a mentor, take a practice test, or get one-on-one instruction in focused workshops. Experts from the Learning Generation Initiative are on hand each Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. These open study session are for adults preparing for the GED exam. Five subject areas are covered, including reading skills, social studies, math, science and English. Anyone wanting to find out more can drop by the library during these scheduled sessions. Disaster relief loans available Early frost, freeze, and excessive rainfall have caused the Secretary of Agriculture to issue a Natural Disaster Declaration for several Indiana counties (and Michigan), including Elkhart, St. Joseph and Kosciusko. He was honored at a dinner at the B&B on March 12 and presented with a watch. He and his wife will be janitors at the new Church of the Brethren and also continue his interest in gardening. IWHer Poultry donates 5,000 pounds of chicken Five thousand pounds of chicken grown by Amish families in the Millebury, Shipshewana and LaGrange areas for Miller Poultry has been donated to residents of Monroe Circle Community Center, 526 Western Ave., South Bend. Lionshead Specialty Tire and Wheel LLC and Miller Poultry have teamed up for the donation. Galen D. Miller and his wife, Sue, Miller Poultry owners, have donated more than 50,000 pounds of chicken product annually to local, area and regional food banks, churches and community organizations. The family has been in the poultry business since the 1970 s and they hatch, raise and process antibiotic-free chicken.
