Nappanee Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Larry Andrews felt the event went well. "I was really pleased with the response that we had at the summit,” he said. "Our speakers were from all over the country, well-known nationally-known speakers who are on the cutting edge of the green movement." Andrews expressed his thanks to both the students and to the EMC. "We were so happy to be associated with Ball State and the EMC as partners in this statewide event," Andrews said. "Its just the beginning of the process that we in Nappanee are moving toward and that’s educating people in the value and the need of being green and to save our natural resources." Wakarusa Town Manager Tom Roeder was also at the summit. "I thought it. went very well,” he said. "We certainly were pleasantly surprised when we found out it was going to be at the Electric Motors Corporation headquarters here in Wakarusa." While the group expressed appreciation for each of the speakers, some highlights of the day for Truex included sustainable development entrepreneur and environmental scientist Tom Butler, Matt Peterson of Global Green USA and Ball State Professor of Landscape Architecture Dr. John Motloch. "(Butler's) presentation was very significant in terms of what the assets are in the area and how they can be utilized in the future," Truex said. The students and Truex plan another event for an undecided date in September, when they will reveal the findings from their project and make their recommendations to the community.
