Death notices Georgia Tunnat March 13, 2009 NAPPANEE Georgia Tunnat, 49, of Nappanee, died Friday, March 13, 2009 at home. She is survived by daughters: Melissa Cheney of Lexington, Ky. and Sarah Tunnat at home; sister, Hazel Mclntosh of Jackson, Ky.; and brother, Ruben "Ruby" Noble of Jackson, Ky. Visitation was Tuesday, March 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Services were Wednesday, March 18 at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was at the Bremen Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family toward funeral services. John A. Fisher March 14, 2009 NAPPANEE John A. Fisher, 64, of east Market Street, Nappanee, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 9:20 p.m. at his home. He is survived by his wife, Kay Stutzman; four daughters: Michelle Kae (Kevin) VanderMolin of Melbourne, Fla., Rosanna (Donald) Butler of Goshen, Lisa Rene Fisher of Goshen and Loralie Dawn (Steve) Baxter of Bourbon; three sons: Jerry Albert (Shari) Fisher of Elkhart, Edward J. Fisher of Goshen and Scott Eugene Fisher of Nappanee; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters; Georgia Jacquelin Zinkiew, Beverly (Fred) Johnson and Sallee Black, all of Nappanee; three brothers: Randy (Sharon) Fisher of Nappanee, Reggie (Denise) Fisher of Elkhart and Denny (Beth) Fisher of Nappanee. Visitation took place Wednesday, March 18 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, N. Main St., Nappanee. Funeral services took place Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial followed at South Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions mav be made to the American Cancer Society or the Lance Armstrong "Live Strong" Foundation.

Brian L Johnson

Brian L. Johnson, 40, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of LaPorte, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, Fla. after a lengthy illness. He was bom May 26, 1968 in Elkhart to Larry D. and Judith A. (Seidner) Johnson. Surviving are his mother, Judith A. Johnson and one brother, Randal D. (Toni) Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his father; Grandmother and Grandfather Seidner; and Grandfather Johnson. He was a very skillful craftsman, loved to travel, was a sailor and enjoyed all water sports. He loved being with his family and his dog, Charlie. He took pride in everything he did. He attended Nappanee Elementary School before moving to LaPorte. After graduating from LaPorte High School, he received his associate degree in business and later received his electronic certificate working as a technician. Cremation took place in Clearwater, Fla. and private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer or Heart Association.
Odd-size trash pickup coming to Nappanee NAPPANEE Odd-sized trash pickup will take place the week of April 20 through 24. The Nappanee Street Department asks that residents place their odd-sized trash items at the curb no later than 7 a.m. the first day of pickup, Monday, April 20. Each neighborhood will be canvassed only once. Odd-sized trash items include furniture, appliances, carpet, car parts, downspouts, television antennas, garage doors, windows, mattresses and bum barrels. Odd-sized trash does not include cans, bottles, glass jars, empty cardboard boxes, plaster, roofing, garbage, cement, bricks, brush, plasterboard or any remodeling materials, tires, batteries or paint cans. These items will not be picked up. No call is necessary to take advantage of the collection.
Adam has more than 500 words to study and remember how to spell before the competition. During that time, he intends to study as much as he can. "Of course there's going to be a much broader source to draw the words from," he said. "It's going to be pretty eclectic." Adam said he does not feel nervous at this point. "Not now, but I will be," he said laughing. Aside from the competition, Adam looks forward
to seeing all of the sights that Washington, D.C. has to offer. "I'd like to go to the White House, obviously," he said. "The capital building; of course I'll go to the Lincoln Memorial." The National Spelling Bee takes place May 26 through 28.
