Death notices Danny L Slabaugh Feb. 2, 2009 NAPPANEE Danny L. Slabaugh, 68, of Nappanee, died at 2:58 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at Elkhart General Hospital. He is survived bv his mother, Lois M. Slabaugh of Nappanee; sister, Kim (David) Ingle of Nappanee; and brothers: Billv Slabaugh, Jody Slabaugh and Mikel Slabaugh, all of Nappanee. Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Thompson-Lengacher & Voder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with visitation one hour prior. Cremation took place. Burial was at South Union Cemetery with military graveside services. Memorials mav be made to the Nappanee American Legion. Robert L Buss Feb. 4, 2009 GOSHEN Robert L. Buss, 70, of Goshen, died at 4:56 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 at Goshen General Hospital. He is survived bv his wife, Evelyn Buss; daughters: Cindy (Jon) Werbianskvj of Coshyn and Penny (Denny) Kreager of Columbia Citv; sons: Mike Buss of Goshen and Scott (Sue) Buss of Wakarusa; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchil-dren; brother, James (Sharon) Buss of Nappanee; and sister, Mary Jane (Robert) Pontius. Visitation was Friday, Feb. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 7 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral* Home, Nappanee. Funeral services were Sunday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was at South Union Cemetery Nappanee. Memorials may be made to Baugo Church of the Brethren. John Howard Brumbaugh Jan. 11,2009 John Howard Brumbaugh, 23, of Carmel, grandson of the late Howard Brumbaugh and Mary Brumbaugh of Nappanee, passed away Jan. H in his university residence at IU Bloomington. He is survived bv his father Howard; sisters: Margaret and Elizabeth Brumbaugh of Indianapolis; and aunt, Barbara Brumbaugh Keck of San Francisco, Calif. Brumbaugh's life will be celebrated and memorialized Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul s Episcopal Church, Indianapolis. "Obama also stressed the importance of education and of parents and teachers working together to increase each child's school success,” she said. "Now that's a message this teacher loved to hear." Kurtz and her son arrived around 7;30 a.m. and were seated around 10 a.m., then stayed afterwards to listen to Obama's answers to people's questions.

William Ernest Farrington Feb. 4, 2009 William Ernest Farrington, 76, of Missoula, Montana died after a six-month battle with cancer at 5 a.m. Feb. 4, 2009. He was born April 15, 1932 in Nappanee to Uloyd M. and Marie (Krauter) Farrington. He married Suzanne Fried April 12, 1970 on Uong Island, N.Y. They resided in Sea Cliff, N.Y. several years and had a residence in Hamilton, N.Y. For many years Will worked as a graphic artist in the New York City area and later was an art professor at the NY Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, N.Y., teaching calligraphy and graphic design from 1965 until his retirement in 1998. He was a graduate of the Nappanee High School class of 1950, a graduate of Ball State in Muncie and received a master of fine arts degree from Cooper-Union in New York. He served with the U.S. Army stationed in Germany from 1956 to 1958. He moved to Calgary, Canada after retirement to pursue his love of hiking in the mountains, skiing, kayaking and jogging in that beautiful area. He moved to Missoula, Mont, in 2007 to be nearer to medic al care in the U.S, and was still exhibiting art projects there. Surviving besides his ex-wife, Suzanne of Hamilton, N.Y. are a son, Adam (Arm ) Farrington of New Orleans; daughter, Berrv (Peter) Delong of Minneapolis, Minn, and a grandson, Walter Delong. He is also survived by two sisters: Margaret England-Nett of Nappanee and JoAnn Priest of South Bend. Cremation took place and a memorial service will take place at a later date. Verena E. Shafer Dec. 24, 1915 - Feb. 4, 2009 Verena E. Shafer, 93, of Bremen Health Care, formerly of Nappanee and Wakarusa, died at 1:07 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 at Bremen Health Care. She was bom Dec. 24,1915 in Bourbon to Adam and Lurena (Miller) Lemler. She married Allen Shafer, who preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1995. A lifetime area resident, she was a housewife and had worked at CTS in Elkhart and for the Mutschler family in Nappanee. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Bremen. She is survived by nieces and nephews: Rich BonDurant, Terrv BonDurant, Melvin Lemler, Larry Pete Lemler, Carolyn Ferro, Dorothy Neff, Beverly Kuhn, Wilma Strevy and Linda Gigous. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Lemler; sisters: Margaret BonDurant and Martha Lemler; nephew, Dave Lemler; and nieces: Francis Romine and Eillen Welsh. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Cremation will take place. Inurnment will be in Sandy Ridge Cemetery, Bourbon Township. Memorials mav be made to the donor's choice. Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, is in charge of the arrangements.
