To date 30 children have been permanently provided with homes in Nebraska since March 20. Another trip will be made there in February or March. One of our foster mothers donated 25 pounds of buckwheat flour to the home. 100 Years Ago Jan. 6, 1909 The teachers of Nappanee Public Schools went over to Bremen Friday evening and were entertained by the Bremen teachers at the home of Miss France Mensil. The visitors from Nappanee were Misses Rusher, Gilbert, Swartz, Brown, Slater, Parker, Voliva, Eismann, Williamson and Professor and Mrs. C.F. Miller. 75 Years Ago Jan. 4, 1943 Tuesday morning a notice was posted on the door at the Foraker State Bank stating that it would be liquidated. It is a private institution started in 1921 with Milton Mishler, President; Joel Weaver, Vice President; and Leander Bigler, Cashier. Depositors will probably be paid in full. 50 Years Ago Jan. 1, 1959 •In Metzler Shoe Store's recent drawing John Gilbert, R. 3, Nappanee, won the train. •Jack Yoder, age 10, son of the Delbert Yoders, W. Area resident to celebrate 100th birthday Mrs. Eileen Sheets of Nappanee will celebrate her 100th birthday Jan. 13. Her children are planning an Open House Jan. 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Nappanee United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Friends and family are invited. Eileen's family include Rosamae (Jerry) Davenport, George (Bonnie) Sheets, Norma (John) Personett and Wendell (Anita) Sheets. She has 17 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Eileen has lived in the Nappanee area her entire life and has been a life-long member of the Nappanee First Church of God.
