Peanut Hsuck Dec. 4,2008 NAPPANEE Peanut Hauck, 0, of Nappanee died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008 at 7:13 p.m. at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw. He is survived by his parents. "Butch" Moore, 60, of Syracuse, died Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 5:10 a.m. at Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse. He is survived by a daughter, Tammy Newsom of Miami, Fla.; a sister, Kay (John) Ryon of Phoenix, Ariz. and three grandchildren. Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee. Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment was at Union center Cemetery.

Nappanee chamber taking nominations
NAPPANEE The Nappanee Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the Educator of the Year, Excellence in Business and Citizen of the Year awards. Educator of the Year The nominee must be dedicated to the profession of education and must have high academic and moral standards for self and community, be a motivator of self, colleagues, students and community, be an inspired initiator of programs and projects of education, be a team builder cooperating with community, the education system and dtizens to ensure excellence and productivity and reside or teach in the Wa-Nee school district. Nominations from students are encouraged.

ISTEP Wa-Nee Schools Director of Curriculum Jim Bennett gave a preliminary report on Wa-Nee's ISTEP results and explained that a more indepth report would follow at a later date. Bennett's report included a handout comparing WaNee ISTEP scores for both 2007 and 2008 as compared with state percentages. "In nearly all cases both years we did surpass the state average," he said. Bennett also handed out a sheet comparing Wa-Nee's scores with those of other Elkhart County schools, including Baugo, Concord, Elkhart, Fairfield, Goshen and Middlebury. In most

A nomination letter must be included explaining why this individual deserves this award. All nominations must be in at the chamber office, 302 W. Market St., Nappanee, no later than Jan. 30. Tucker's design is a pen-and-ink drawing featuring three dancing Christmas packages and the phrase "Happy Holidays." Color has been added to Tucker’s black-and-white design. Other items •Business manager Roger Zentz told the board the Indiana Bond Bank has offered a rollover program and asked for board approval to participate. Earlier in the year the school borrowed $3,572,115 from the bond bank, which included $149,632 from the debt services fund, $589,553 for the transportation fund and $178,348 for bus replacement.
