Letter to the editor Note: The opinions expressed in the following letter to the editor do not necessarily reflect the views of the Advance News or of our parent publication, the Pilot News. Dear Editor, Those who oppose aborting babies with fully-developed nervous systems never realize the realities of life and never have enough sense to consider how to care for those allowed to be bom; only killers have the intelligence to think these things through and understand why it must be done so they tell us. My question then is, why is it I never yet heard articulate and convicting, Bible-believing preaching trumpeting the favor and glories of abortion, or for that matter, of its repugnant siblings, sodomy and feminist nations. It seems they are joined together as one against the Bible. Don't vote for pro-abortionist presidential candidate Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton or her traditional Party of Abortion: the Democrats. Seniors send Valentine wishes to troops
By Mandy McFarland Editor WAKARUSA One group of Wakarusa seniors has decided to spread a little love around the world this Valentine's Day with homemade cards for troops overseas. Known as Seniors' Day Out, the group meet's twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the cabin next to the downtown park for lunch and social time. Last Tuesday, Jan. 15, they decided to use their time to create special Valentine's Day cards to send to members of the Armed Forces who are fighting overseas. Using glitter, glue, pictures, construction paper and so forth, the seniors designed individual
greeting cards, each containing a positive mess,-.;e to encourage each recipient. Seniors' Day Out has been around for nearly four years. During that time they have collected cans and clothes for Nappanee tornado victims and emptv medication bottles to send to Greencroft. Activities include Bingo and other popular games, as well as crafts. It is things like this that allow seniors to break away from the daily.routine and enjov a little social time. Norma Slagle and Ramona Loucks organize the group and oversee activities. "It's just a wonderful experience, ’’ Slagle said. They start contributing things to do and help out. It's a community thing.' Six area restaurants take turns providing lunch, and the Wakarusa town council sponsors it. Seniors from Wakarusa, Nappanee or other areas who are interested in participating in Seniors Dav Out can call Norma Slagle at 574-862-4437. Knowing of his predicament, the American
Legion came to his aid, and Thursday, Jan. 10 Karnes was presented with a grant for SSOO from The Coalition to Salute American Heroes.
